   Thomas, from whom the locality once kn. as "Wakely's Marsh," and "Wakely's Meadow" (afts. "Brigadier's Meadow"), near the northerly terminus of Green St., prob. took its name, was one of the early planters who drew their house-lots in Hing. Sept. 18, 1635. Freeman 1635-36. "One of this name died in Hingham 23 June, 1644, perhaps a son of the above-named. Farmer thinks the elder Wakely is the same who, with his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren, was murdered by the Indians at Casco Bay in 1675. This is probable, as this Wakely was 'an old man.'" (Hon. Solomon Lincoln's Centennial Address, p. 37.) By this surname the foll.
