(Lechford's Note-Book, 430.) No evidence has been found showing whether he was, or was not, identical with Samuel Nash of Plymouth, 1632, and of Duxbury, 1643 to 1682. LIEUT. JAMES NASH of Weymouth, shoemaker, appeared there early with a wife Alice, and was made a freeman of Massachusetts Day Colony in May, 1645. He was a representative from Weymouth, 1655, 1662, and 1667. Administration on his estate was granted to his sons John Nash of Boston, Cooper, and Jacob Nash of Weymouth, housewright, 31 Dec. 1080. Robert Burges of Stanton Drew, county of Somerset, England, made his will 17 Nov. 1626, in which he mentions his wife Alice Burges, his son John Burges, his two daughters, his sister Anne Hinton, the two children of his sister Hester Sherman, his brother- in-law Thomas Benbrick, and the children of his son-in-law James Nash. (Water's Gleanings in England, 1179.) Samuel Sherman of Dedham, county of Essex, clothier, made his will 14 June, 1643, in which he bequeaths " to my loving sister Nash 20 shillings and to her son 20 shillings and to her daughter now in London, 20 shillings, all to be paid to my brother Nash." ([bid. 1179.) The inference is that James Nash married in England, before 17 Nov. 1626, Alice Burges, daughter of Robert and Alice Barges of Stanton Drew, county of Somerset, and that they had a daughteK living in London, 14 June, 1643. The parish registers of Stanton- Drew begin in 1653, long after the time of search required to enlighten US. It is true that one John Burges settled in Weymouth as early as 1660, and it is likely that he was a brother-in-law to James Nash. 422 NASH Children.- John 2 cooper, living in Boston, 31 Dec. 1680.
