My Hilton Family
| My first Hilton ancestor was RICHARD HILTON, born 1720, probably in Pennsylvania. At this time the name of his wife is not known. Richard was in Virginia by the 1740. It is not known when he died or where. We do know he fought in the Revolutionary War. For now only three children have been atributed to Richard and his wife:JAMES HILTON, SAMUEL HILTON and JEHIL HILTON. I descend from SAMUEL HILTON and his wife PATSY BREWER, thru their son RICHARD WILLIAM HILTON born ca 1797 and died 1849 in South Carolina. William married my gr.gr.gr.Grandmother GRACE 'GRACIE' TERRELL around 1818, since their first child was born 1818. It is my belief, and so far without proof, that Gracie was GRACE SESSION TERRELL, the supposed daughter of Dr.ED TERRELL and ELIZABETH MASSEY.The dates and locations would fit and I also base this on the fact that Gracie's gr.Grand-daughter was named GRACE SESSION MASSEY. However, all attempts to varify this theory has so far been unsuccessful! My gr.gr. Grandmother was MARTHA C.HILTON born 1829 in South Carolina and died in 1920 in Tyler,Texas, Smith County. She married first JAMES MASSEY, born 1826, died 1865. Second Martha married ROBERT 'BOB' COKER in Mobile,Alabama in 1869. Recently I visited Lancaster and Chesterfield Counties in South Carolina and took many Hilton Grave pictures. There are a few that I can't seem to fit into my Family Tree.
