Aaron Sackett (1760-1827)
Recently I received a large packet of material relating
to the family of Aaron and Dorcas Sackett from Laurie Young < lamybois@juno.com
>. She expressed the desire that this material be shared with as
many Sackett researchers as possible. In this material are photocopies
of several documents relating to Aaron Sackett and his family. As
a beginning, I am posting images of the documents relating to Aaron and
Dorcas Sackett.
Deeds between Henry Beeson and Aaron Sackett
In the Deed for a lot in Union (Uniontown), Fayette Co.,
PA. from Henry Beeson to Aaron Sackett dated 14 Mar 1784; Aaron is described
as "a Tailor".
Some time in the past, this copy of the July 25th 1789
Deed was reduced in size to fit on a page 8 1/2" X 11" and in the process
the handwriting was rendered almost impossible to read. It is between
John ?Wissman? and his wife Margaret and James _____. At the end
of line 6 there is the mention of 28th ?June? 1786. On lines 7-8
there is the date "Sixth day of ?February? in the year of our Lord one
thousand seven hundred eighty eight". On line 9 there is the date
25th July 1789. And the document was recorded on 25th July 1789.
Following the recording date is a summary of the 1784 Deed from Henry Beeson
to Aaron Sackett.
Deeds relating to sale of 80 acres in Butler Co., OH. left to his
widow, Dorcas.
By comparing the 1827 deed with the 1830 deed we are given
a time frame for the death of Margaret "Peggy" Martin, the presumed
second wife of Thomas Sackett, son of Aaron. She was listed as the
wife of Thomas in the 1827 deed and in the 1830 deed, Thomas does not have
a wife to sign with him. Due to the fact that both deeds deal with
the same piece of property, it would have been necessary for her to have
signed the 1830 deed if she were still alive.

In addition to the two deeds in
1827 and 1830 which involve Dorcas Sackett, widow of Aaron, there are the
following documents including her will and probate.
