I November 1893. Julia stated she married Custis on 5 December
1889. On or about I January 1890, she received $560.00 from her
father's estate. Thomas E. Custis appropriated the money for
use in his business pursuits. Julia wanted to recover her dowry
at the rate of five percent interest beginning 1 February 1890
to date. Custis accepted the suit against himself on 1 November
1893. No decision was recorded on Packet #418b

This entry copied from Church records at Campti, La. Due to date of birth I believe this child to be Franklin M. Thompson, with the first name changed to Joseph to meet Church Baptism requirements, i.e. must have a saints name.

The change of a name is common in the Catholic Church for baptism, as with my Oldest son, Turner Preston ( Paul ) Lawson, Paul is the required Baptismal name.
