Obituary clipping for Moses D. Shepard ( Date: 1st week in October 1945)
Funeral sevices were held for Moses Dennison Shepard of Okanogan, this afternoon at 2 o'cloc k in the Full Gospel Christian Assembly Church, with the Rev .O.M. Knutson officiating.
Moses Shepard was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan June 24, 1871, and died October 1, 1945, at th e age of 74. He leaves his wife, Laura L. Shepard, age 72, and four children and five grand- children. One daughter, Addie L. Steele preceded him in death. Living children are Lettie Ma e Johnson, Somers, Montana; Ivan L. Shepard, Oroville; Fred Shepard, Tonasket; Alice Pleun e, Okanogan. One grandchild, Robert R. Steele, S1/c, is in the South Pacific.
Funeral was in charge of the Barnes Funeral Service.(If I knew the date of this paper clipping I would know the date of the funeral)

The name Laura Livettie Shepard was recorded in the Moses Dennison Shepard family bible as tr anscribed by Fred C Shepard. It is the only record that records the middle name Livittie. La ura's eldest daughter was named Lettie (sort of Figures!? )Grandma Shepard was the only "Mother" I ever knew. I knew that she really loved me and alway s had my best interests at heart. I loved her very much!
In the fall of 1947 I left for California with Tom Weed to work in the almonds and grapes. Gr amma cried when I told her I was leaving and she said to me "I hate to see you go because I k now I will never see you again". But I just tried to pacify her because I really didn't belie ve her. Tears form in my eyes as I remember how right she was to be! Word finally reached To m and I in Dec. 1947 that grandma had passed away. We were ready to come back to Washington b ut I was sick flat on my back and could not travel home for her funeral. I have regretted tha t I did not listening to her! I was 21 years 10 mo 3 days old when she died.

The first time I saw Len was when Pat brought him home from Spokane right after they were mar ried in 1932.
Len smoked " taylormade" cigarettes, as he did all the time I knew him. I remember him smokin g and throwing the butt down on the ground. I was about 6 years old and when everyone went in to the cabin, I picked the butt up and did what he had been doing, I took a few puffs!.
