Mr. Dickson is one of the leading business men of Gorganton. From 1877 to 1887 he was the secretary and treasurer of the Building Commission for erection of State Hospital for Insane at Morganton. For a number of years he was a merchant there, and at present time (1906) is secretary, treasurer and manager of the Morganton Manufacturing & Trading Co., president of the Bank of Morganton, director in the Morganton Furniture Co., director in Morganton Building & Loan Association, and a trustee of the Morganton Graded School.
John married Annie Gibbs-4715sp daughter of Rev. George Mckenzie Gibbs and Amanda Mckinley Morgan on 3 Jul 1877.
