Mayor SMITH presiding.
Present - Ald. BUCKERIDGE, CLARKE, CUNNINGHAM, DAY, GARDNER, GESLEY, HANSEN,
HELM, LEDELL, MERRILL, MUELLER, NEEDHAM, POLLOCK, SHARP - 14.
Absent - Ald. HEWITT - 1.
The minutes of the meeting of April 16th were read and approved.
Ald. BUCKERIDGE, for the Health committee, presented a bill of A. HANSEN for quarantine expenses for
$24.00, which was allowed and ordered paid by the unanimous vote of the Council, the ayes and noes being called.
The following bills having been audited by the Clerk and payment recommended, on motion were allowed and
ordered paid by the unanimous vote of the Council, the ayes and noes being called:

Street Lights committee.
Ald. SHARP presented the following petition, which was granted:

To the Honorable Mayor and the Common Council of the City of Beloit: -
We, the undersigned, property owners on Highland avenue between Eighth and Hackett streets, do
hereby petition your honorable body to order a grade established on Highland avenue between Eighth and Hackett streets and order said street macadamized and charged to abutting property owners.
        Henry J. LOVE, D. E. DEMING, J. H. QUALMAN, Wm. SAMP and 15 others.
    Ald. CLARKE presented the following petition, which was referred to the Street Lights committee:

To the Honorable Mayor and the Common Council of the City of Beloit: -
We, the undersigned residents and taxpayers of South Race street and vicinity of the City of Beloit,
respectfully petition your honorable body for the erection and maintenance of an electric light, to be located on the said street at a point directly south of the Milwaukee elevator.
        MAGILTON Bros., Albert MEAD, Henry PRIEN, L. DeGROFF and 16 others.
    Ald. LEDELL presented the following petition, which was referred to the Street Lights committee:

To the Honorable Mayor and the Common Council of the City of Beloit:
We, the undersigned petitioners of the Fifth ward in the City of Beloit, and residing in the immediate
vicinity of Vine and Middle streets in said ward, respectfully petition your honorable body that you cause to be erected an electric light, and the same maintained, at the inter- [continue to Page 10]
