Ald. DAY presented the following resolution which was referred to the Fire committee to report at the next meeting:
Resolved, That the plans and specifications for rebuilding the central fire station be adopted, and that the City Clerk
be and is hereby directed to advertise for bids to rebuild the central fire station according to plans and specifications, with the privilege of rejecting any or all bids.
Ald. DAY, for the board of Fire commissioners, presented the following recommendations which were adopted.

To the Honorable Mayor and Common Council:
GENTLEMEN: Your board of Fire Commissioners respectfully recommend that the Chief of the Fire
department be paid forty dollars per month as Chief Engineer and twenty dollars per month as Electrician for looking after the fire alarm system and apparatus, making a total of sixty dollars per month. And that the No. 1 driver of the hose wagon at the Central Station be paid fifty dollars per month, and the No. 2 driver of the ladder truck be paid forty-five dollars per month, and the No. 3 driver be paid forty dollars per month. And the No. 1 driver or Captain of the East side Fire Station be paid fifty dollars per month and the No. 2 driver be paid forty dollars per month, and all call men at both stations be paid ten dollars per month, this to take effect and be in force on and after June 1st, 1900.

Ald. HANSEN, for the Aldermen of the Second ward, presented the following resolution and recommended its
adoption, and it was adopted:
WHEREAS, on the 5th day of February, 1900, a petition was filed with the City Clerk of the city of Beloit,
Wisconsin, praying that all that portion of the public highway known as Eclipse Avenue, which lies westerly of lots nine (9), eighteen (18), seventeen (17), sixteen (16) and fifteen (15), block one (1), PEET & SALMON's addition to Beloit, Wisconsin, according to the recorded plat thereof, and easterly of a direct line, drawn from the northwest corner of said lot nine (9), block one (1), in said PEET & SALMON's addition to Beloit, to the southwest corner of said lot fifteen (15), in said block one (1), be vacated and discontinued; and
WHEREAS, said petition is signed by all of the owners of lots or land on that portion of said Eclipse avenue pro-
posed to be vacated, and two-thirds of the owners and occupants of all lots or lands on the remainder thereof, being in all two-thirds of the owners of property directly abutting upon said Eclipse avenue from its intersection with Pleasant street to Park place; and
WHEREAS, said petition is accompanied by a map, showing the portion of said Eclipse avenue proposed to be
vacated; and
WHEREAS, notice of the pendency of said application has been filed in the office of the Register of Deeds of said
Rock county, according to law; therefore, it is now
Resolved, That the Common Council of the city of Beloit will act upon said petition on the 18th day of June, 1900,
at 8 o'clock in the evening of that day, at the Council Chamber of the city of Beloit. It is further
Resolved, that the following notice be posted in three public places in said city of Beloit at least one week before
said 18th day of June, 1900:

            NOTICE.
Take notice that upon the 5th day of February, A.D. 1900, a petition was filed with the City Clerk of
the city of Beloit, praying for the vacation, and discontinuance of all that portion of the public highway known as Eclipse Avenue, which lies westerly of lots nine (9), eighteen (18), seventeen (17), sixteen (16) and fifteen (15), block one (1), PEET & SALMON's addition to Beloit, Wisconsin, according to the recorded plat thereof, and easterly of a direct line, drawn from the northwest corner of said lot nine (9), block one (1), in said PEET & SALMON's addition to Beloit, to the southwest corner of said lot fifteen (15), in said block one (1), and that the Common Council of the city of Beloit will act upon said petition upon the 18th day of June, A.D. 1900, at 8 o'clock in the evening of that day at the Council Chamber is said city of Beloit.
