Ald. HANSEN, for the Aldermen of the Second ward, reported recommending the adoption of grades as set by the
Engineer for sidewalks on the west side of Harrison avenue between White and Lawton avenues and on the south side of Clary street from Church street to College street. On motion the report and grades were adopted.
Ald. HANSEN, for the Aldermen of the Second ward, reported recommending the adoption of sidewalk grades as
set by the Engineer on Barstow avenue. On motion the report and grades were adopted.
Ald. CLARKE presented the following petition which on motion was granted:

To the Honorable the Mayor and Common Council: -
Your petitioner prays that we may be granted the right to move two wooden buildings to the east end
of the city from the lot owned by petitioners at the northeast corner of the intersection of St. Paul avenue and State street, and to erect on said lot a brick veneered building. Most respectfully submitted,

Ald. SHARP, for the Aldermen of the Fourth ward, reported recommending the adoption of sidewalk grades as set
by the Engineer on the south side of Jackson street. On motion the report and grade were adopted.
Ald. DAY, for the Aldermen of the Third ward, presented the following report which was adopted:

To the Hon. Mayor and Common Council:
GENTLEMEN: Your Third Ward Aldermen to whom the within report of the City Engineer of levels taken on Oak, D, E and Vine streets respectfully recommend that the report be received and placed on file.

Ald. DAY, for the Fire committee, presented the following report on the recommendation for a new alarm box at the
corner of Broad and Mill streets:

To the Hon. Mayor and Common Council:
GENTLEMEN: Your Fire committee to whom the within resolution was referred, respectfully
recommend that the within resolution be not adopted as there is now one fire alarm box on the corner of Broad and Mill street.

On motion the report was adopted.
Ald. HELM, for the senior Aldermen of the several wards, reported as follows on the bid of Hugh McGAVOCK:

To the Honorable Mayor and Common Council of the City of Beloit: -
Your committee, having had under consideration the within bid for crushed and chipped stone, would
report that in our opinion the city can crush stone and procure chip stone and deliver same at lower prices than offered in within bid and would therefore recommend the rejection of same.

On motion the report was adopted.
Ald. HEWITT presented the following resolution which was adopted:
Resolved, That the Board of Public Works cause a sidewalk grade to be established, and stakes set for same on the
west side of Fourth street, between Liberty and Middle streets.
Ald. MERRILL presented the following resolution which was adopted:
Resolved, That the Board of Public Works be ordered to cause a standard sidewalk to be built on the west side of
Vine street between C street and Merrill street, and the City Engineer be instructed to set grade stakes for same.
Ald. MERRILL presented the following resolution which was adopted:
Resolved, That the Board of Public Works be and they are hereby ordered to cause a standard sidewalk to be built
on the south side of Merrill street be- [continue to Page 28]
