- Ald. CUNNINGHAM presented the following resolution
which was adopted:
- Resolved, That sidewalk grades be established on the
east side of Parker avenue between E and D streets and on
- the south side of D street from Parker avenue to Fifth street.
- Ald. CUNNINGHAM presented the following resolution
which was adopted:
- Resolved, That the Board of Public Works be directed
to build a brick crossing on the west side of Vine street
- across C street.
- Ald. POLLOCK presented the following resolution which
was referred to the Health and Sewerage committee:
- Resolved, That the Chicago & Northwestern Ry.
Co. be given permission to extend outlet of east side sewer 35
feet
- into the river as per plans submitted. The same to be done
entirely at their own expense and under the supervision of and
as directed by City Engineer.
- Ald. POLLOCK presented the following resolution which
was adopted:
- Resolved, That the City Engineer be instructed to
establish a grade on the south side of E street from McKinley
- avenue to the city limits and also on east side of West street
from F to E streets and report the same tot he City Council and
that sidewalks be ordered laid on said streets.
- Ald. POLLOCK, for the Judiciary committee, presented
the following report on petition referred to them:

- Your Judiciary committee to whom the within
petition was referred beg leave to report that the
- Wisconsin Telephone Co. only contemplates
setting new poles in the place of old ones and that it contemplates
placing its wires on the business streets in cables so far as
is practicable and we recommend that no action be taken by the
city in the premises.

- On motion the report was adopted.
- Ald. POLLOCK, for the Judiciary committee, returned
the proposed dog license ordinance and offered the follow-
- ing substitute ordinance which was read for the first time
in full and the second time by title and laid over under the
rules until the next meeting:

- An ordinance to prevent dogs from running
at large in the city of Beloit.
- The Mayor and the Common Council of the city
of Beloit do ordain as follows:
- Section 1. No dog or bitch shall be allowed
to run at large within the city of Beloit unless the same be
- first registered and have upon its neck a
collar with a brass tag attached thereto as herein after provided.
- Section 2. Every person residing in the city
of Beloit owning or having in his or her possession any
- dog or bitch may have the same registered
annually by paying to the City Treasurer one dollar for a dog
and three dollars for a bitch and presenting to the Clerk the
Treasurer's receipt for the same.
- Section 3. Upon the presentation of such
receipt the City Clerk shall register such dog or bitch in a
- book to be kept by him for such purpose,
which said registration shall state the date of registry, the
number thereof and the name of the owner or the person in possession
of such dog or bitch, and the said registration shall be good
until the first day of August next following said registry, and
after that time the same shall be of no effect, and such dog
or bitch may be registered again in the manner herein provided.
- Section 4. Every person who shall have caused
the registry of any such dog or bitch shall keep upon
- the neck of same a collar with a brass tag
attached thereto with the number of such registration thereon
which said brass tag shall be furnished such person by the City
Clerk upon the presentation to him of such Treasurer's receipt.
If any such tag so issued be lost the Clerk may issue a new tag
to the person entitled to same upon presentation to him of the
receipt of the City Treasurer for 50 cents. The said tags shall
be of different shape each year.
- Section 5. The City Marshal may at any time
kill or cause to be killed any dog or bitch found running
- at large within the city of Beloit without
having upon its neck a collar with a brass tag attached thereto
as provided in this ordinance.
