Ald. LEDELL, for the License committee, reported recommending granting billiard and pool licenses to the
following:

F. O. SCHMAUSS at 311 State street.
Philip HAUSER at 313 Bridge street.
On motion the report of the committee was adopted and licenses granted as asked, to be dated and become effective
July 3rd, 1900.
Ald. DAY, for the Fire committee, reported recommending the adoption of the resolution directing the clerk to
advertise for bids for rebuilding the central fire station.
On motion the report and resolution were adopted.
Ald. LEDELL presented the following communication which was received and placed on fire:

To the Mayor and Council of the City of Beloit:
Having sold my business interests to Henry HAUSER, I withdraw my application for License at No.
209 Bridge street.
      Resp., Jay SLITER. (his X mark.)
      In presence of Silas W. MENZIE.
Ald. LEDELL, for the License committee, presented a report recommending granting liquor license and license for
one billiard and one pool table to Henry HAUSER at 209 Bridge street.
On motion report was adopted and licenses granted, to be dated and become effective July 3, 1900.
The report of the Health and Sewerage committee on the petition for sewer on the north side of Bridge street,
between Third and Fourth streets, was taken up and on motion the recommendation that the sewer be guilt as soon as possible was adopted.
Ald. CUNNINGHAM, HELM and MERRILL appeared and took their seats.
Ald. CLARKE was excused.
The Mayor announced the appointment of R. J. BURDGE, L. H. PARKER and E. P. SALMON as directors of
the Beloit Public Library to succeed themselves. On motion the appointments were confirmed.
On motion the use of the city parks for Sunday services was granted the Ministerial Association of the city.
Ald. MERRILL for the Aldermen of the Fifth ward reported recommending the adoption of sidewalk grades as set
by the engineer on Bluff street between C and Merrill streets. On motion the report and grades were adopted.
Ald. GESLEY presented the following resolution:
Resolved, That the Fire committee shall report to this council at the next regular meeting what repairs are necessary
to put the west side fire station in good condition for present and future use. Be it further
Resolved, That the said committee when it shall determine what in its opinion should be done, submit plans and
specifications of the same to this council, with an estimate of the probably cost of the improvement.
A motion to lay the resolution on the table was lost by the following vote, the ayes and noes being called:
Ayes - Ald. BUCKERIDGE, DAY, HANSEN, POLLOCK - 4.
Noes - Ald. CUNNINGHAM, GARDNER, GESLEY, HELM, LEDELL, MERRILL, MUELLER,
NEEDHAM, SHARP - 9.
The resolution was then adopted.
Ald. GARDNER presented the following resolution which was adopted:
Resolved, That the Board of Public Works are instructed to grade Euclid avenue between Eighth and Bluff street
according to the established grade as soon as possible.
Ald. SHARP presented the following resolution which was adopted:
Resolved, That the Board of Public Works construct two or more temporary water closets on the city park for the
Fourth of July.
Ald. NEEDHAM presented the following resolution which was adopted:
Resolved, That the City Engineer be instructed to establish a sidewalk grade and terrace line on the east side of
Eclipse avenue from Park Place to Pleasant street.
Ald. MUELLER presented the following resolution which was adopted:
Resolved, That the sidewalk in front
