The minutes of the meeting of July 16th were read and approved.

    Ald. POLLOCK appeared and took his seat.
    The following petition was presented and referred to the Aldermen of the First ward:

To the Honorable Mayor and Common Council of the city of Beloit.
The petition of Alice BRODER represents that she is the owner of the land on the west side of
Central avenue extending from Bushnell street to Chapin street. Your petitioner is desirous to build a tar side walk the entire length of the block. Your petitioner further represents that there are a number of trees on the terrace that she is anxious to save. Your petitioner therefore asks of your honorable body to grant permission to build the walk up to the curb line. Your petitioner further asks for a side walk grade on the west side of Central avenue between Chapin street and Bushnell street.

    Ald. MUELLER presented the following petition, which was referred to the Water Works committee:

To the Honorable Mayor and Common Council of the city of Beloit:
The undersigned property owners and residents on Central avenue and Bushnell street would
respectfully represent to your honorable body that we have no water privileges, and we further represent that it is necessary in a sanitary measure that we have city water; therefore, we petition your honorable body to order a water main laid in Central avenue between Chapin street and Bushnell street and then east on Bushnell street to Milwaukee road, and a hydrant placed there.
