    Ald. HANSEN presented the following petition, which was referred to the Bridges committee:

To the Honorable Mayor and Council of the City of Beloit, Wis.:
Gentlemen: - Whereas the Township of Rockton is about to build a new bridge over Turtle creek near
Beloit, and as said bridge is a great benefit to Beloit, we, the Commissioners of Rockton, would respectfully petition Beloit for financial aid in paying for said bridge.

Ald. SHARP, for the Police committee, reported on the repairing of the jail and presented sealed bids for doing
the necessary work.
Bids from John CLIFF, CUNNINGHAM Bros., and FRANZ & NEWTON were opened and referred to the
Police committee to analyze and report.
Matters pertaining to the enforcement of the dog ordinance were referred to the Judiciary committee to report at the
next meeting of the Council.
In the matter of repairing the central fire station Ald. CUNNINGHAM's substitute resolution presented at the
meeting of July 16th, was taken up and Ald. CUNNINGHAM added thereto the following provision:

12. As many of the above repairs that are most needed and can be made at a sum not to exceed seven
hundred dollars.
Ald. HANSEN moved to re-refer the whole matter of rebuilding the West Side Fire Station to the Fire committee
and that said committee be directed to advertise for bids for repairing same upon definite plan and specifications as outlined in the substitute resolution offered by Ald. CUNNINGHAM at meeting of July 16, 1900.
Ald. HANSEN's motion was supported and adopted by the following vote, the ayes and noes being called:
Ayes - Ald. BUCKERIDGE, DAY, GARDNER, GESLEY, HANSEN, HELM, HEWITT, MERRILL,
MUELLER, POLLOCK, SHARP - 11.
Noes - Ald. CLARKE, CUNNINGHAM, LEDELL, NEEDHAM - 4.
Ald. SHARP presented the following resolution which was referred to the Aldermen of the Fourth ward:
Resolved, That the Board of Public Works make the necessary arrangements and cause Fourth street to be paved
from the north side of Bridge street to the north side of E street, the same to be charged to the abutting property.
Ald. HEWITT presented the following resolution which was adopted:
Resolved, That a sidewalk grade be established and sidewalk ordered laid at once on the west side of Sixth street be
Liberty and Middle street also crossing over Liberty street to connect with the sidewalks already laid.
Ald. MERRILL presented the following resolution which was adopted:
Resolved, That the City Engineer be instructed to set sidewalk grade stakes on north side of Liberty street between
10th and 11th streets. Subject to the approval of this Council.
Ald. CLARKE presented the following resolution which was adopted:
Resolved, That the City Engineer be instructed to set grade stakes for new sidewalk on west side of Mill street
between north line of St. Paul avenue and south line of Broad street.
Ald. LEDELL presented the following resolution which was adopted:
Resolved, That sidewalk crossings be built on the west side of Hackett street, crossing C, Merrill and Liberty street
so as to make a continuous walk.
Ald. GESLEY presented the following resolution, which was referred to the Aldermen of the Third and Fourth
wards:
Resolved, That this Council cause E street to be put in better condition by grading and filling with chip stone and
dressed over with crushed stone, beginning at the intersection of Brooks, Hackett and E streets, thence west to city limits, the work to be done under the
