The following report of the public library was received and accepted:

To the Honorable Mayor and Common Council of the City of Beloit: -
Gentlemen: Pursuant to section No. 935 of the revised statutes of Wisconsin the Board of Directors of
the Beloit Public Library make this, their fifth annual report.
The money appropriated by you last year for the support and maintenance of the Beloit Public Library
has been expended in a careful, conservative manner, as you will see by referring to the secretary's report hereto attached, which gives the amount of money received and from what sources and the amount expended and for what purposes, and the amount in the treasury.
For the past year we have followed the line of procedure marked out at the organization of the library
by reducing to the lowest possible limits its operating expenses, and by expending as far as possible the money given us in the purchase of books. How we have succeeded the librarian's report hereto attached and made a part of this report will inform you.
In all of our efforts to build a library up to, and maintain it at, a high standard we have been seconded
and assisted by the librarian, Miss BELL, whose zeal and efficiency cannot be too highly praised.
