Mayor SMITH presiding.

LEDELL, MERRILL, MUELLER, NEEDHAM, POLLOCK, SHARP - 13.
Absent - Ald. CLARKE, HANSEN - 2.
The minutes of the meeting of August 20th were read and approved.
Ald. NEEDHAM appeared and took his seat.
The following bills having been audited by the clerk and payment recommended were allowed and ordered paid by
the unanimous vote of the Council, the ayes and noes being called:

A bill of R. J. HARTSHORN for $10.00 for cleaning vault was referred to the committee on Health.
Ald. SHARP, for the police committee, reported on a bill of George DONNER for $10.00, recommending that
$6.00 be allowed.
On motion the report of the committee was adopted and the bill allowed in amount recommended by the unanimous
vote of the Council, the ayes and noes being called.
The Mayor announced that during the repairing of the city jail the rear end of the city hall would be used as a place
for prisoners and that he had appointed W. H. HADLEY to take charge of same.
On motion the appointment of the Mayor was approved.
Application for license to keep two billiard tables and one pool table was received from M. J. BARRON and
referred to the License committee.
Ald. HANSEN appeared and took his seat.
Ald. POLLOCK presented the following petition which was referred to the Judiciary committee:

To the Mayor and Common Council of the city of Beloit:
The undersigned respectfully petition your honorable body to change the name of West South
Bridge Street to Shirland Avenue. Signed by property owners on said street.
