Ald. SHARP, for the Aldermen of the Fourth ward, reported recommending the adoption of grade for Back street
as set by the Engineer.
On motion the report and grade were adopted.
Ald. SHARP, for the Aldermen of the Fourth ward, reported recommending the adoption of grades as set by the
Engineer on the east side of West street between F and E streets and on the south side of E street between McKinley avenue and City limits.
On motion the reports and grades were adopted.
Ald. SHARP, for the Aldermen of the Fourth ward, reported recommending the adoption of grades as set by the
Engineer on the south side of West Bridge street from Hackett to Moore streets and on the north side of West Bridge street from Eighth street east 766 feet.
On motion the report and grades were adopted.
Ald. MERRILL, for the Aldermen of the Fifth ward reported recommending the adoption of grades as set by the
Engineer as follows:
On east side of Vine street from Middle to North street.
On west side of Fourth street from Middle to Liberty street.
On west side of Vine street between C and Merrill streets.
On south side of Merrill street between Bluff and Oak streets.
On east side of Oak street between C and Merrill streets.
On north side of Liberty street between Bluff and Sixth streets.
On east side of Vine street between Merrill and Liberty streets.
On west side of Elm street between Merrill and Liberty streets.
On motion the reports and grades were adopted.
Ald. HELM, for the Aldermen of the First ward, reported on the petition for permission to build sidewalk on outside
of terrace on Central avenue as follows:

We the Aldermen of the First ward to whom the within petition was referred respectfully report that
whereas deviation from the eighteen-inch limit is not now within the jurisdiction of the Council, recommend that action on the within petition be postponed.

On motion the report was adopted.
Ald. HELM, for the Waterworks committee, reported on the petition for water mains on Bushnell street and Central
avenue as follows:

We the Waterworks committee to whom the within petition was referred respectfully recommend that
no more extensions be granted until the pending question of waterworks purchase is decided.

On motion the report was adopted.
Ald. HELM presented the following resolution, which was adopted:
Resolved, That the City Engineer be directed to set stakes for sidewalk grade and terrace line on west side of
Central avenue between Chapin and Bushnell streets.
Ald. HELM presented the following resolution, which was adopted:
Resolved, That the City Engineer be directed to set stakes for sidewalk grade and terrace line on the west side of
Harrison avenue between Broad and School streets.
Ald. HELM presented the following proposed ordinance, which was read the first time in full and the second time by
title and laid over under the rules:

            ORDINANCE NO. --.
An Ordinance to Amend Section Number 176 of Ordinance Number 50 of the Ordinances of the City of Beloit.
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Beloit do ordain:
Section 1. Section Number 176 of Ordinance Number 50 of the Ordinances of the City of Beloit is
hereby amended so as to read as follows:
Section 176. All sidewalks hereafter laid or relaid shall not be placed further [continue to Page 58]
