Ald. LEDELL moved to dispense with the roll call. Carried
On motion of Ald. MERRILL the Council adjourned until Wednesday evening, Sept. 19, 1900, at 7:30 o'clock.

Present - Ald. BUCKERIDGE, CLARKE, CUNNINGHAM, DAY, GARDNER, GESLEY, HANSEN,
HEWITT, MERRILL, MUELLER, NEEDHAM, SHARP - 12.
Absent - Ald. HELM, LEDELL, POLLOCK - 3.
The minutes of the meetings of September 3rd and 17th were read and approved.
A bill from W. H. HADLEY for services as special policeman, for $24.00, having been audited by the clerk and
payment recommended, was allowed and ordered paid by the unanimous vote of the Council, the ayes and noes being called.
Ald. HANSEN presented the following petition, which was referred to the Aldermen of the Second ward:

To the Honorable Mayor and Common Council of the City of Beloit: -
Gentlemen: We, the undersigned, your petitioners, property owners and residents on Union street in
said City of Beloit, would respectfully ask that the grade of said street be established and the sidewalk grade be established and sidewalks ordered laid on said Union street between Woodward and White avenues.

Ald. NEEDHAM presented the following petition, which was referred to the Board of Public Works to investigate
and report an estimate of the cost of the work necessary:

To the Honorable Mayor and Common Council of the City of Beloit, Wis.: -
We, the undersigned residents and property owners, respectfully petition your honorable body to
adopt some measure for the improvement of White avenue between Prairie avenue and Milwaukee road at the expense of the city.

    Ald. MUELLER presented the following petition, which was referred to the Fire committee:

To the Honorable Mayor and Common Council of the City of Beloit: -
Gentlemen: The undersigned hereby petitions your honorable body that he be permitted to construct
a one-story frame blacksmith shop upon his premises on Pleasant street, on the west side thereof, between Broad street and St. Paul avenue.

Ald. CLARKE, for the Street Lights committee, reported on the resolution for an arc light at the intersection of
School street and Park avenue, recommending that the same be adopted. On motion the report was adopted and light ordered.
Ald. CLARKE, for the Street Lights committee, reported on the resolution for a double incandescent light at the
intersection of Emerson and College streets recommending that same be
