The Mayor called to the attention of the Council the matter of the boxing ring in M. L. RYAN's saloon.
On motion the Council took a recess of 15 minutes to allow the License committee time to examine the premises
referred to.
Ald. CLARKE, for the Street Lights committee, reported recommending that the bill of the Beloit Electric Co. for
$326.99 by allowed.
On motion the report was adopted and bill allowed by the unanimous vote of the Council, the ayes and noes being
called.
Ald. BUCKERIDGE, for the Health committee, reported recommending that $8.00 be allowed on a bill of R. J.
HARTSHORN for $10.00 for cleaning vault.
On motion the report was adopted and the bill allowed as recommended by the unanimous vote of the Council, the
ayes and noes being called.
Ald. BUCKERIDGE, for the Health and Sewerage committee, to whom was referred the resolution to clean
gutters, lower manholes, etc., on Pleasant street, reported as follows:

Your Health and Sewerage committee, after due consideration, recommend that the gutters be
cleaned and culverts built according to the within resolution; but would recommend that the manholes not be lowered, as they are built according to the general plan of sewerage.

On motion the report was adopted.
Ald. POLLOCK, for the Judiciary committee, reported on the petition to change the name of West South Bridge
street to Shirland avenue, recommending that same be granted. On motion the report was adopted and name changed.
Ald. MERRILL, for the Public Property committee, reported that it was not deemed advisable to make a police
court room in the rear of the Council room. On motion the report was adopted.
Ald. HELM, for the Aldermen of the First ward, reported recommending the adoption of grades as set by the
Engineer on the west side of Mill street from St. Paul avenue to Water street and on the west side of Harrison avenue from Broad to School street.
On motion the reports and grades were adopted.
Ald. MERRILL, for the Aldermen of the Fifth ward, reported recommending the adoption of grades as set by the
Engineer on the west side of Sixth street from Middle to Liberty and on the north side of Liberty from Tenth to Eleventh. On motion the reports and grades were adopted.
The Board of Public Works to whom was referred the petition for the improvement of White avenue reported as
follows:

The Board of Public Works report as follows: That before they can make a proper report on above
petition it will be necessary to have a profile made showing the necessary grade.

On motion the report was received and placed on file.
Ald. DAY, for the Aldermen of the Third ward, reported recommending the adoption of grades as set by the
Engineer on the east side of Oak street from D to C street, on the south side of C street from Elm to Eighth and on the east side of Elm street from D to E.
On motion the reports and grades were adopted.
