- On motion the Aldermen of the Fifth ward were authorized
to put polling place in proper condition for use.
- On motion of Ald. DAY the clerk was instructed to
give two dog tags to the Fire department.
- Reports were received from the City Engineer of grades set
and approved by the Board of Public Works as follows:
- On the south side of South Race street from State street
to Prospect street.
- On the west side of Central avenue from Bushnell street to
Chapin street.
- On the west side of Pleasant street from Public avenue to
Richards' south line.
- On Union street from Woodward avenue to White avenue.
- On motion the reports were referred to the Aldermen of the
respective wards in which grades were located.
- The report of the Police Justice for September was received,
accepted and placed on file.
- The report of the City Sexton for September showing receipts
of $160 with Treasurer's receipt attached was
- received, accepted and placed on file.

- surface sewer on Vernon avenue and Eighth

- On motion the report was laid over until the next regular
meeting and the Finance committee instructed to devise
- ways and means to raise funds to do the work.
- Ald. LEDELL, for the License committee, presented
the following report which was adopted:

- Your License committee to whom was referred
that matter of the boxing ring in the saloon of M. L.
- RYAN report
that we have inspected the same and do not approve of such a
thing in such a place. We therefore recommend that the Marshal
be instructed to notify Mr. RYAN to remove the same.

- Ald. HELM, for the senior Aldermen of the wards to
whom was referred the matter of purchasing a traction engine,
- reported as follows:

- The senior Aldermen to whom the within resolution
was referred respectfully report, that as the
- season is so far advanced and as no further
difficulty will be experienced this year in renting a suitable
engine, that the purchase of an engine be deferred until next
spring.

- On motion the report was adopted.
- Ald. LEDELL presented the following resolution which
was referred to the Board of Public Works to estimate the
- cost and report:
- Resolved, That the Board of Public Works be authorized
to repair Fourth street between C and Liberty streets by
- covering the road bed with a light layer of crushed stone.
- Ald. HANSEN, for the Aldermen of the Second ward,
reported as follows on the petition for grade and sidewalks
- on Union street:

- Your Aldermen of the Second ward to whom
the within petition was referred would report in favor of
- granting same, and recommend the adoption
of the annexed profile of grade for sidewalk and street for Union
street between Woodward avenue and White avenue. Also that standard
sidewalks be ordered built and street graded as provided by the
charter and ordinances of the city.
