on the petition of C. F. RAU recommending that a
- rebate of $15.00 be allowed him on account of excess of sewer
tax paid.

- To the Mayor of the City of Beloit:
- Dear Sir:
- Owing to frequent prolonged absence from
Beloit, I hereby tender by resignation as a member of the
- Board of Trustees of the Public Library.
In doing so I wish to express my appreciation of the wise and
liberal policy of your honorable Council in their treatment of
the public library. I have had occasion to visit many of the
public libraries in Wisconsin and it has been gratifying to know
that the Beloit public library is in the highest class. It is
to be hoped that your honorable body will continue their generous
interest in this department of the higher life of our city.

- Ald. HEWITT, for the Fire committee, reported recommending
the grant of the petition of R. J. BURDGE. On
- motion the report was adopted and petition granted.
- The Mayor presented a communication from A. BRITTAN
in regard to the grade on Cross street. On motion the
- matter was referred to the Board of Public Works and Aldermen
of the Fourth ward.
- The Mayor announced the appointment of W. W. SLEEPER
as member of Library Board to fill the vacancy caused
- by the resignation of E. P. SALMON. On motion the
appointment was confirmed.
- Ald. CUNNINGHAM presented the following resolution:
- Resolved, That the Board of Public Works be directed
to have the storm water sewer on Brooks street be put in as
- soon as possible, according to resolutions adopted by the
council October 15.
