Regular meeting.
Mayor SMITH presiding.
Present - Ald. BUCKERIDGE, CLARKE, GARDNER, HANSEN, LEDELL, MERRILL, MUELLER,
NEEDHAM, POLLOCK, SHARP - 10.
Absent - Ald. CUNNINGHAM, DAY, GESLEY, HELM, HEWITT - 5.
The minutes of the meeting of November 5th were read and approved.
The following petition was presented and referred to the Fire committee:

To the Honorable the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Beloit: -
Gentlemen: The undersigned, your petitioners, the Berlin Machine Works, would respectfully ask that
an automatic fire alarm box, the usual kind used in the city, be placed upon its machine shop, nearly opposite the office and near the front door of the machine shop fronting on Third street.

    Ald. SHARP presented the following petition which was referred to the Judiciary committee:

To His Honor the Mayor and Members of the Common Council: -
I hereby petition your honorable body to vacate and close the alley in Block No. 2, FLUEKIGER's
Second Addition to Beloit, Wis.
                E. D. FLUEKIGER.
Ald. POLLOCK for the fire committee presented a report recommending that the bill of F. H. KEMP for $80.00
for fire station plans be paid. On motion the report was adopted and bill ordered paid by the unanimous vote of the Council, the ayes and noes being called.
Ald. CLARKE for the Street Lights committee presented a report recommending the adoption of the resolution for
a street gas lamp on West Bridge street opposite Garden Lane. On motion the report and resolution were adopted.
Ald. CLARKE for the Street Lights committee, to whom was referred the petition for street lights on Bridge street in
the business portion, returned the petition without recommendation. On motion the report was accepted.
Ald. SHARP for the Aldermen of the Fourth ward presented the following report:

To His Honor the Mayor and Members of Common Council:
The Aldermen of the Fourth ward report as follows on the communication of Mr. A. BRITTAN:
We find that there is no established grade on Cross street; that the west side of said street is elevated
above the east side by having been filled; that the top of the basement windows are on a level with the street in front, said street in front being on grade. We have also secured a profile of Cross street showing a prospective grade of Cross street. The grading of Cross street is the only solution of the question involved.

    On motion the report was adopted.
    Ald. CLARKE for the Street Lights committee presented the following report which was adopted:

The Street Lights committee to whom the petition for a street light on the corner of Eighth street and
Vernon avenue was referred and recommend that the same be granted and that the light be placed on Vernon avenue about midway between Bluff and Eighth streets.

Ald. HANSEN for the Aldermen of the Second ward reported in favor of the adoption of the resolution for sidewalk
on the east side of Park avenue between Woodward and White avenues. On motion the report and resolution were adopted.
Ald. HANSEN for the Aldermen of the Second ward reported recommending the adoption of sidewalk grades as
set by the City Engineer on Strong avenue and Milwaukee road. On motion the report and grades were adopted.
Ald. HANSEN for the Aldermen of the Second ward reported recommending the adoption of grade as set by the
City Engineer on the west side of Pleasant
