street. On motion the report and grade were adopted.
Ald. SHARP for the Police committee presented the following report which was adopted:

To the His Honor the Mayor and members Common Council:
Your police committee who were instructed to locate rooms that would be suitable for police head-
quarters and martial's [marshal's] office report that there are two suits [suites] of rooms that can be secured. First, the present rooms which need some repairing but small, not more than a few dollars which most [must] be done at the city's expense. These rooms can be secured on a five year lease for $150. Second, one suite in the ADAMS block, west end of Bridge for $144. Your committee would recommend securing the rooms now occupied by the police force.
The Police Justice agrees to pay the same as he now pays for the use of rooms to hold court, $5 per
month.

Ald. POLLOCK presented the following resolution which was adopted:
Resolved, That the cross walk on the west end of Locust street be brought down to recorded grade as soon as
practicable.
Ald. MERRILL presented the following resolution which was adopted:
Resolved, That the Board of Public Works be authorized to rent some suitable place for storing away the various
tools and other movable property belonging to the city that required shelter while not in use.
Ald. MERRILL presented the following resolution which was adopted:
Resolved, That the Board of Public Works procure plans and specifications for a suitable building to be erected on
the Fifth ward, Ward House grounds for the purpose of storing away all tools and other property belonging to the city that are required to be house while not in use.
Ald. SHARP presented the following resolution which was adopted:
Resolved, That no more sidewalk grades or street crossings be ordered until the streets on which they may be
ordered have got an established grade the whole length of said streets and not for one or two blocks so that all sidewalks may be of a uniform height and grade to conform to the established grade of the street.
The Mayor announced the appointment of Charles QUALMAN as special policeman without pay. The appointment
was confirmed.
Ald. BUCKERIDGE presented the following resolution which was adopted:
Resolved, That the Board of Public Works be directed and is hereby ordered to cause a crosswalk to be built
across Harrison avenue in front of the new kindergarten on said street.
Alderman HANSEN presented the following resolution which was adopted by the unanimous vote of the Council,
the ayes and noes being called:
Resolved, That there be and hereby is, appropriated from funds reserved for such purposes the sum of $1,080.00 to
pay general improvement bond number two, amounting to $1,000.00, and semi number four of interest coupons, due December 1, 1900, and that the City Clerk draw order in payment of same.
Ald. HANSEN presented the following resolution which was adopted by the unanimous vote of the Council, the ayes
and noes being called:
Resolved, That the sum of $315.00 be and the same is hereby appropriated to pay for services of inspectors, clerks,
ballot clerks and special police of election for Tuesday, November 6, 1900, and for the registration prior thereto as per list hereto attached, and the city clerk is hereby directed to issue orders on the treasurer for same.
Reports of the City Marshal for the months of September and October were presented, accepted and placed on file.
The report of the Police Justice for the month of October, showing no cases in which the City was a party, were
presented, accepted and placed on file.
The report of the City Sexton for the month of October, showing receipts of $135.50 with Treasurer's receipt
attached was presented, accepted and placed on file.
Reports were received from the City Engineer of grades set and approved by the Board of Public Works as follows:
On the east side of Eighth street from C street to Merrill avenue;
On the west side of Lincoln avenue between E and C streets;
On the west side of Moore street from E street to D street;
On the north side of D street between Hackett and Moore streets;
On the east side of Ninth street between D and C streets;
On the north side of Clary street between Pleasant and College streets.
On motion the reports were referred to the Aldermen of the respective wards in which the grades were located.
On motion the Council then adjourned.
