Ald. HANSEN, for the Finance committee, presented the following resolution which was adopted by the unanimous
vote of the Council:

To the Honorable, the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Beloit:
Your Committee on Finance would submit the following resolution and recommend its adoption:
Resolved, That there be levied upon the taxable property of the City of Beloit for 1900 the sum of
$80,749.37 as follows, viz:
    For state taxes $5,432.50
    For county taxes 4,888.88
    For county school taxes 3,477.91
    For taxes charged back 40.09
    For indigent soldiers relief 400.00
      $14,239.38
     
CITY AND SCHOOL TAXES.
For Beloit City school district $27,374.77
For School District No. 1 1,909.81
For School District No. 2 3,505.41
For Public Library purposes 2,500.00
For general improvement bond, principal 1,000.00
For general improvement bond, interest 120.00
For general fund 30,000.00
Memorial Day Fund 100.00
  $80,749.37
 
And it is hereby ordered that the tax roll for 1900 be carried out in accordance with the above
resolution.

Ald. HANSEN, for the Aldermen of the Second ward, reported recommending the adoption of sidewalk grade as
set by the City Engineer on the north side of Clary street from Pleasant street to College street. On motion the report and grade were adopted.
Ald. BUCKERIDGE, for the Health and Sewerage committee, reported recommending granting the petition of
C. S. GREGORY and others for permission to connect with catch basin on Public avenue.
On motion the report was adopted and petition granted.
Ald. CLARKE, for the Street Lights committee, reported on the bill of the Beloit Electric Co., as follows:

    Your Committee recommend a deduction of $15.00, fifteen dollars, instead of five dollars.

On motion the report was adopted and the bill allowed as recommended in amount of $353.00, by the unanimous
vote of the Council, the ayes and noes being called.
Ald. LEDELL, for the License committee, reported on the petition of M. L. RYAN for rebate of pool table fee as
follows:

Your Committee to whom the within petition was referred would recommend that the license be
rebated, and that an order drawn on the treasurer payable to M. L. RYAN.

On motion the report was adopted and rebate granted by the unanimous vote of the Council, the ayes and noes
being called.
Ald. MERRILL, for the Aldermen of the Fifth ward, reported recommending the adoption of sidewalk grade as set
by the City Engineer on the east side of Eighth street between C and Merrill streets.
On motion the report and grade were adopted.
Ald. MERRILL, for the Aldermen of the Fifth ward and Board of Public Works, presented the following report
which was re-referred to committee to ascertain estimate of expense: -

To the Hon. Mayor and Common Council:
Gentlemen: We the Fifth Ward Aldermen, and Board of Public Works to whom was referred the
petition for sink wells on Merrill street, between Elm and 10th streets, would say, that in our opinion sink wells on the above street [continue to Page 79]
