On motion the report and grades were adopted.
Ald. POLLOCK, for the Judiciary committee, reported the following resolution which was adopted:
Whereas, On the 21st day of January, A.D., 1901, a petition was filed with the City Clerk of the city of Beloit,
Wisconsin, praying that the alley running east and west through the center of block two of FLUEKIGER's second addition to Beloit, being 16.58 feet in width, and extending from the west line of West street, west to the east line of Grand avenue and separating lots from 1 to 12 inclusive on the north side of said block, from lots 13 to 24 inclusive to the south side of said block, according to the recorded plat thereof, be vacated and discontinued; and,
Whereas, Said petition is signed by all of the owners of lots or lands abutting on said alley on either side and between
the street lines of West street and Grand avenue as hereinabove set forth; and,
Whereas Said petition is accompanied by a map showing the portion of said land or the alley proposed to be
vacated; and,
Whereas, Notice of the pendency of said application has been filed in the office of the Register of Deeds of said Rock
county according to law. Therefore, it is now
Resolved, That the Common Council of the city of Beloit will act upon said petition on the 4th day of February, A.D.
1901, at eight o'clock in the evening of that day at the Council Chamber of the city of Beloit. It is further
Resolved, That the following notice be posted in three public places in said city of Beloit at least one week before
said 4th day of February, 1901.

            NOTICE.
Take Notice, that upon the 21st day of January, A.D. 1901, a petition was filed with the city clerk of
the city of Beloit praying for the vacation and discontinuation of the alley running east and west through the center of block two of FLUEKIGER's second addition to Beloit, Wisconsin, being 16.58 feet in width and extending from the west line of West street west to the east line of Grand avenue and separating lots from 1 to 12 inclusive on the north side of said block from lots 13 to 24 inclusive on the south side of said block, according to the recorded plat thereof, and that the Common Council of the city of Beloit will act upon said petition upon the 4th day of February, A.D. 1901, at eight o'clock in the evening of that day at the Council Chamber in the said city of Beloit.

Ald. HELM, for the Water Works committee, notified the Council that Mr. DAVIS and Mr. KIERSTED, the
appraisers selected by the City and Water Works Company respectively, would meet in this city, January 26.
Ald. HELM, for the special committee, presented the following resolutions which were adopted unanimously.
Whereas, This Common Council of the City of Beloit, having been officially informed of the death of Thomas B.
BAILEY, an honored citizen and for many years a representative of this city on the Rock County Board of Supervisors, as well as filling many other positions of public trust in our city and county. Therefore be it
Resolved, That in the death of Mr. BAILEY, this city has lost a just and upright citizen, whom to know was to love
and honor, and whose record in both official and private life was without blemish; whose service to this city and the community were of most useful nature, and were performed with honor and credit to himself and of great benefit to his constituents.
Resolved, That while we bow in submission to the Supreme Ruler, we deeply regret the loss of such an esteemed
fellow citizen, and extend to the family of the deceased our sincerest sympathy and condolence in their great bereavement. Be it further
Resolved, That as a future mark of our esteem these resolutions be inserted in the records of this Common Council,
and that an engrossed and certified copy thereof be transmitted to the family of the deceased.
