No. 46. Extract.
The Division Commander cites the following officers and men for distinguished conduct during the operations of this
Division south of Soissons, July 18-22, 1918:
"Wagoner, Verne Graham, Supply Company, 28th Infantry, displayed exceptional bravery in delivering rations through a
heavy barrage to the front line after two of his companions had become casualties; stayed in a heavily shelled area and assisted in evacuating the wounded, this being outside his regular line of duty. He also hauled wounded to the rear in his ration cart."

The Commanding General, 88th Division, A. E. F., takes pleasure in announcing that the following named officers and
enlisted men, of the 57th Field Artillery Brigade and the 147th Field Artillery, at present assigned to this division, are given Divisional Citations as set forth opposite their respective names, for acts of heroism performed as members of the 57th Field Artillery Brigade and the 147th Field Artillery in operations with the 32nd Division, with other American divisions and with French commands:
Throughout the Juvigny operation this soldier was used constantly as a runner and agent between observation posts,
battery positions and battery echelons, all the time acting voluntarily, often under heavy hell fire.

After the approval of the Commanding General-in-Chief of the American Expeditionary Forces of France, the Marshal of
France, Commander-in-Chief of the French Armies in the East, has cited the following order for the regiment:

Corporal Roger A. Skinner, M.C. 8097, in the S. S. U. 517: "Marked energy in the heart of the offensive operations from
September 28-October 18, 1918, has given proof of courage and calmness by assisting in the removal of the wounded and by going to reconnoitre some posts in zones violently bombarded by the fire of the enemy."

"Par sou initiative personelle, est allé chercher les blessés sous un feu violent d'artillerie et de mitrailleuses. A montré un
grand sang-froid en pausant leurs blessures, jusqu à ce qu'il soit luimême blessé par une balle de mitrailleuse."

With the approbation of the Commander in Chief of the American Expeditionary Forces in France, the Marshal of France,
Commander in Chief of the French Armies of the East, cites in the order of the Division.

First Class Private Elmer Swann, Medical Corps, 127th Regiment U.S. Inf.
"On his own initiative he sought the wounded under violet artillery and machine gun fire. Displayed coolness in dressing
their wounds until he himself was wounded by a machine gun bullet."

WALTER TRACHSEL.
 
Walter Trachsel was a member of the Fifth Regiment of the Marines. The Fifth Regiment was cited for distinguished service
by France as well as by the United States. Of two hundred and fifty Marines, only twenty survived to gain their point of vantage. Walter Trachsel was one of the twenty who took Bouresches on June 6, 1918.

"This certifies that Walter Trachsel performed honorable active service in the U.S. Marine Corps, from March 3, 1918 -
August 27, 1919, in the following organizations and on board the following ships of the navy: Paris Island, S.C., Quantico, Va., 4th Brigade, 2nd Division, A.E.F., France."

The Regimental Citation is as follows:
Army Order Citation.
"The Fifth Regiment of American Marines under command of Lieut. Commander Feeland, engaged in an improvised offensive
on the 18th of July, 1818, in the middle of the night on a terrain unknown and very difficult, advanced in open order for two days, without being stopped by the hardships and the difficulties of replenishing their food and water, with remarkable ardor and tenacity, rolled back the enemy for eleven kilometers, capturing 2700 prisoners, 12 cannons and several hundred machine guns."
