Brodhead's Tribute to her Men of the Service

1914-1918

Compiled by The Civics Club

©1921 Brodhead, Wisconsin (Cantwell Printing Co., Madison, Wis.)

Foreward (p. 7)
In compiling the roster of this book, the Civics Club has included as Brodhead boys, not only those residing within the
city limits, but also all those receiving their mail from the Brodhead Post Office. The Club has earnestly endeavored to make no mistake, and would be immeasurably sorry should any name be omitted that rightfully belongs in the list; but should any name be listed which possibly could not rightfully be claimed, it feels that no great harm has been done.
The Club's motive in compiling and issuing this book has been to gather, in some permanent form, at least a slight record
of the part Brodhead's citizens took in the Great World War; that not only this generation, but generations yet to come, may share in the knowledge of their ready response to Our Country's need and their devotion to Duty, whether at home, detained in camps in the United States, or sent across the water to participate in active warfare.
The Civics Club consists of a small band of women, busy women all, whose work heretofore has lain far afield from
bookmaking; so in this, their maiden effort, they ask indulgence of the public.
To all those who interest and co-operation have made this book possible, the Club offers grateful acknowledgment.
