PRIVATE VENE KINGMAN GRAHAM - Molder
Born in Brodhead [Green county, Wis.]. Entered service Aug.
13, 1917. Assigned to Co. H, 128th Infantry, 32nd
Division. Trained at Camp Douglas, Wis., and Camp MacArthur,
Tex. Sailed from Hoboken, on S.S. Covington, Feb. 18, 1918. Landed
at Brest, March 4. Transferred to Supply Co., 28th Infantry,
1st Division. On the 28th of May, GRAHAM began carrying supplies
into the front-line trenches at the Battle of Cantigny and continued
in the same line of work in: the Second Battle of the Marne;
St. Mihiel Salient; Argonne Forest; Sedan and Toul Sector. In
the 2nd battle of Marne at Soissons, he received a citation for
performing duty under heavy shell fire and assisting in extracting
the wounded. With the Army of Occupation in Germany. On April
18, 1919, transferred back to 32nd Division. Sailed from Brest,
July 20, 1919, on S.S. Leviathan. Discharged from Camp Douglas,
Ia., August 20, 1919.
CORPORAL ELMER C. GREEN - Contractor
Born in Brodhead [Green county, Wis.]. Entered service May
15, 1918. Assigned to U.S. Naval Reserve Force.
Trained at U.S.N. Reserve School, Municipal Pier, Chicago,
U.S.N.A.R.S., Cleveland, Ohio. Transferred to U.S.S. Denmark,
then to U.S.S. Commodore. Promoted from seaman 2nd Class to yeoman
1st Class. Embarked from D.E.O., Great Lakes. On August 8, 1918,
yeoman GREEN with three other sailors were transferred from the
U.S. Naval Reserve School, in Cleveland, on board the U.S.S.
Denmark, a 600 foot oar transport. Although the ship was manned
by a civilian crew, the government placed these four sailors
aboard for elementary training, supplementing the officers' training
course at the Municipal Pier. here they learned the rudiments
of sailing, piloting, and navigation. Also the real meaning of
"seasickness." After two months hard work, they were
transferred back to Cleveland for examination for ratings. The
Armistice put an end to further service aboard ship. Discharged
from D.E.O., Great Lakes, Ill., July 29, 1919.

26, 1918. Assigned to Headquarters Co., 45th Infantry,
9th Division. Trained at Camp Sherman, Ohio. Discharged from
Camp Grant, June 17, 1919.
