SEAMAN GEORGE EDWARD LETTS - Farmer [p. 42; no photograph]
Born in Magnolia, Rock county, Wis. Entered the Navy, Dec. 11, 1917. Trained at Great Lakes Naval Training Station.
Promoted from apprentice seaman to seaman. Made four trips to France; the first one as seaman on U.S.S. North Carolina. Spent one month at Armed Guard School in Brooklyn, N.Y. Made two trips on S.S. West Hampton. Seaman LETTS last trip to France and back to U.S. was on S.S. New Mexico. Discharged at Great Lakes, July 21, 1919.

SEAMAN FRANCIS J. LEWIS - Student
Born in Brodhead [Green county], Wis. Entered service May 4, 1918. Assigned to Navy, and trained at Great Lakes.
Promoted from apprentice seaman to seaman 1st Class. Sailed from New York, June 17, 1918, on S.S. Los Angeles. Landed at Brest, July 2. Transferred from here to Southampton, then to Plymouth, England. Duties were on a submarine chaser, which was given credit of sinking a "sub." Sailed from Plymouth, March 31, 1919, on U.S.S. Zeppelin. Discharged at Hoboken, July 1, 1919.

PRIVATE CONRAD O. LISTON - Farmer
Born in Plymouth, Rock county, Wis. Entered service Aug. 14, 1918. Assigned to a Supply Company in the Ordinance
Corps. Trained at Peoria, Ill., in an automobile school for nine weeks; then transferred to Camp Raritan, N.J. Ready to leave for embarkation camp, when Armistice was signed. Discharged from Camp Grant, March 15, 1919.

Born in Lincoln [Kewaunee county], Wis. Received his commission as First Lieutenant, Medical Corps, June 22, 1918.
Assigned to Evacuation Hospital, No. 28, 88th Division. Later transferred to 86th and then to 92nd Division. Trained at Camp Zachary Taylor. Sailed from New York, in October, on S.S. Private MARSHALL saw serivce in the Alsace Sector, May 18-July 10, 1918; in the Aisne-Marne Offensive, July 29-Aug. 7; in the Oise-Aisne Offensive, Aug. 26-Sept. 6; in the Occupation at Coblenz Bridgehead, Nov. 11, 1918-April 18, 1919. Sailed from Brest, April 27, 1919, on S.S. George Washington. Discharged at Camp Grant, May 16, 1919.

Born at Brodhead [Green county], Wis. Entered service April 26, 1918. Assigned to Co. B, Engineers, 2nd Division.
Trained at Camp Grant. Sailed from Hoboken, Aug. 27, 1918, on S.S. Mayflower. Landed in Scotland, Sept. 12th. Trained at Combeaufountain. Sailed from Brest, Sept. 26, 1919, on S.S. Finland. Discharged from Camp Grant, Aug. 14, 1919.

PRIVATE JOHN R. MAVEUS - Shipping Clerk [p. 43; no photograph]
Born in Orangeville, Wis. Entered service Aug. 1, 1918. Assigned to 2nd Co., 71st Engineers. Trained at Washington
Barracks, Washington, D.C., and at Syracuse, N.Y. Discharged at Camp Grant, Jan. 11, 1919. Re-enlisted Nov. 19th with 3rd Division. Located at Base Hospital at Camp Pike, Ark. Discharged Nov. 18, 1920.

SERGEANT RALPH McNAIR - Student
Born in Brodhead [Green county, Wis.]. Entered service March 18, 1918. Assigned to 302nd Headquarters Co., Tank
Corps, Regular Army. Trained at Camp Colt, Gettysburg, Penn. Promoted from private to sergeant. Transferred to Co. A, 345th Battalion, Tank Corps. Sailed from New York, Aug. 1918, on S.S. Kroonland. Landed at Brest, Aug. 1918. Further training at Longres. Went to Argonne sector, Oct. 25, 1918. Put tanks in condition and moved up Nov. 1, 1918. Were preparing to go to Metz front, when Armistice was signed. Went back to Longres, Jan. 25, 1919. Sailed from France, Feb. 28, 1919, on S.S. Europa, an Italian ship. Discharged at Camp Grant, April 11, 1919.

CORPORAL LEE B. MENOR - Bank Clerk
Born in Brodhead [Green county, Wis.]. Entered service Sept. 19, 1917. Assigned to Supply Co., 344th Infantry, 86th
Division. Trained at Camp Grant. Recommended for sergeant but came home before promotion was made. Sailed from New York City, Sept. 8, 1918, on S.S. Megantic. Landed at Liverpool, Sept. 21st. Trained at Ambares, Gironde, France. Was enroute to the front when Armistice was signed. Remained at Le Mans ten months helping build the Forwarding Camp, where so many thousand boys were given their final inspection. Sailed from Brest, July 1, 1919, on S.S. President Grant. Discharged at Camp Grant, July 18, 1919.

PRIVATE JAKIE MILLER, JR. - Employee of Brodhead Cheese and Cold Storage Co.
Born at Mineral Point [Iowa county, Wis.]. Entered service Aug. 14, 1918. Assigned to 6th Co., Sweeney Auto School,
later trained at Camp Hancock. Discharged from Camp Grant, Jan. 10, 1919.

LIEUTENANT EZRA JAY MITCHELL - Physician
Born at Waverly [Bremer county], Iowa. Received commission as first lieutenant Medical Corps, July 10, 1917. Trained
at Ft. Riley, Kan., in M.O.T.C., and sent to Base Hospital, Camp Cody, N.M., where he was transferred to 133rd Infantry, 34th Division. Sailed from Hoboken, on S.S. Helenus, (Eng.), Sept. 16, 1918. Landed at Cherbourg, France, Oct. 8th. Satationed at St. Selve, Bordeaux. Transferred to Evacuation Hospital, No. 3, St. Dizier, to Camp Hospital 97, St. Dizier, then to 1st Anti-Air Craft Battalion (Artillery). Sailed from Brest, on Battleship Ohio, Feb. 20, 1919. Discharged from Presidio, San Francisco, Cal., March 29, 1919.

LIEUTENANT C. ROGER MOONEY - Dentist
Born in Janesville [Rock county], Wis. Received commission as first lieutenant, June 6, 1918, and assigned to Medical
Detachment, 349th Infantry, 88th Division. Trained at Camp Dodge, Des Moines, Ia. Sailed from Hoboken, Aug. 9, 1918, on S.S. Olympic. Landed at Le Havre, Aug. 18th. Stationed at Semur; afterwards sent to Haute-Alsace sector. Sailed from St. Nazaire, May 18, 1919, on S.S. Mallory. Discharged from Camp Grant, June 11, 1919.

CHIEF PETTY OFFICER MYRON J. MOORE - Drug Clerk
Born in Brodhead [Green county, Wis.]. Entered service Aug. 3, 1918, and assigned to Merchant Marine. Trained at
Boston, Mass. Sailed from Montreal, Canada, Nov. 1, 1918, on S.S. Lake Govan, for Portland, Maine; later transferred to S.S. Castilia. About 200 miles off the coast of Newfoundland the ship was wrecked. After drifting for 3 days the crew was picked up by a Norwegian steamer, the Bergensfford, and carried to Christiania where they remained 12 days waiting for the Bergensfford to sail for the U.S. They finally left on Feb. 1, 1919, and landed in New York, Feb. 11th. Discharged from Boston, June 16, 1919.

PRIVATE WILBUR STAIR MURPHY - Student
Born in Brodhead [Green county, Wis.]. Entered service July 16, 1917. Assigned to Co. M, 128th Infantry, 32nd
Division. Trained at Camp Douglas and Camp MacArthur. Sailed from Hoboken, Feb. 19, 1918, on S.S. Covington. Landed at Brest, March 4th. Transferred to Co. D, 28th Infantry, 1st Division. Took part in: Aisne-Marne Defensive, May 14-July 11, 1918; Battle of Cantigny, May 28-31, 1918; Aisne-Marne Offensive, Soissons, July 18-23, 1918; Saizerais sector, Defensive, Auig. 1918; St. Mihiel Offensive, Sept. 12-17, 1918; Meuse-Argonne Offensive, Oct. 1-6, 1918; Sedan, Nov. 9-11, 1918; Army of Occupation, March to Coblenz, Nov. 11-Dec. 13; Army of Occupation, Montabour-Ruppach, Germany, Dec. 13, 1918-March 4, 1919. Attended A.E.F. University, Beaune Cote D'Or, France, March-June, 1919. Sailed on S.S. Belvidere from Marseilles, June 14th. Discharged from Camp Grant, July 11, 1919. Private MURPHY was wounded in the knee by shrapnel, Oct. 6, 1918, while taking part in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, and was in a hospital one month.

Division. Trained at Camp Douglas, Wis., and Camp MacArthur, Texas. Sailed from Hoboken, Feb. 18, 1918, on S.S. George Washington. Landed at Brest, March 4th. Trained in 10th Training Area. Saw service in: Alsace, May 18-July 21, 1918; Aisne-Marne, July 27-Aug. 7, 1918; Oise-Aisne, Aug. 26-Sept. 6, 1918; Aisne-Argonne, Sept. 26-Nov. 11, 1918; Army of Occupation, Germany. Wounded in the chest by shrapnel, Sept. 3, 1918. Sailed from Brest, April 28, 1919, on S.S. George Washington. Discharged from Camp Grant, May 18, 1919.

Division. Trained at Camp Custer, Mich. Sailed from New York, July 21, 1918, on S.S. Orea. Landed at Liverpool, Aug. 3rd. Transferred to the 4th Division. Trained at Montreux, France. Sailed from Camp Lincoln, July 22, 1919, on S.S. Von Steubens. Discharged from Camp Grant, Aug. 5, 1919.

PRIVATE HELMER C. OLMSTEAD - Clerk
Born near Orfordville [Rock county], Wis. Entered service June 8, 1918. Assigned to U.S. Marine Corps. Trained at
Paris Island, S.C. Transferred from ranks to radio work. Discharged at Quantico, Va., March 10, 1919.

PRIVATE KENNETH OLSEN - Implement Dealer
Born in Avon Township, Rock county [Wis.]. Entered service June 18, 1917. Assigned to Battery D, 121st Infantry,
32nd Division. Trained at Camp Douglas and Camp MacArthur, Texas. Sailed from Hoboken, March 2, 1918, on S.S. Leviathan. Landed at Liverpool, March 10th. Received further training at Camp Coequitdan, France. Private OLSEN's account of his experiences is as follows: "We left the French training camp June 7, 1918, in box-cars for the front. Landed at Belfort, June 9th. Took our first position on German soil near La Chappelle, June 11th. Left this position, July 22nd, started for Chateau Thierry, and took part in the 'Second Battle of Marne.' Left that sector Aug. 22nd for 'Soissons' drive. Fought with the 10th French Army under General Mangin and took Juvigny. Left that front, Sept.7th, for six days rest. Moved to new sector, Sept. 25th, near Verdun in the Meuse-Argonne. In action until Nov. 8, 1918." Sailed from Brest, April 30, 1919, on U.S. Battleship Georgia. Discharged from Camp Grant, May 19, 1919.

Born in Brodhead [Green county, Wis.]. Entered service May 24, 1918. Assigned to 28th Co., 161st Depot Brigade.
Trained at Camp Grant. Discharged there, July 21, 1918.

PHARMACIST LYMAN ERWIN OSBORNE - Printer
Born in Brodhead [Green county, Wis.]. Entered service May 25, 1918. Trained at Great Lakes, Ill. Transferred from
Hospital Assistant Class 2 to Hospital Assistant Class 1, to Pharmacist Class 3. Saw service on a receiving ship at New York, and also on U.S.S. Zeppelin. Discharged from Great Lakes, Aug. 7, 1919.

REGIMENTAL SERGEANT MAJOR LLEWELLYN WILLIS OSBORNE - Editor and Publisher
Born in Beloit [Rock county], Wis. Entered service June 15, 1918. Assigned to Headquarters Co., 321st Ammunition
Train, 96th Division. Trained at U. of U.W. Training Detachment, Camp Wisconsin at Madison; Camp Taylor, Louisville, Ky., and Camp Kearney, San Diego, Calif. Transferred from Battalion Sergeant Major to Regimental Sergeant Major. Discharged from Camp Grant, Dec. 23, 1918.
