Born in Union Star [DeKalb county], Missouri. Entered service
April 30, 1918. Assigned to Co. C, 64th Infantry, 7th
Division. Trained at Camp Grant, Fort Bliss and Camp MacArthur.
Promoted from private to corporal. Sailed from Camp Merritt,
on S.S. Manchuria. Returned on account of ship trouble. Set sail
again from Camp Mills on S.S. Le Havre. Landed at Brest, Sept.
2, 1918. Received further training at Argentine, near Paris.
Saw service in St. Mihiel sector. Sailed from Brest, June 19,
1919, on S.S. America. Discharged from Camp Grant, June 26, 1919.

Born in Sheldon, Wyoming county, New York. Entered service
Feb. 19, 1918. Assigned to 55th Co., 5th Regiment of
Marines, 2nd Division. Trained at Paris Island, S.C., and
Quantico, Va. Sailed from Hoboken, on U.S.S. Henderson, May 20,
1918. Landed at Brest, June 1st. Private TRACHSEL was in: the
Chateau Thierry, May 31-July 9, 1918, and Soissons Battles, July
18-20, 1918; and also saw active service in the St. Mihiel Salient,
Sept. 9-16, 1918; the Champagne sector, Sept. 30-Oct. 9, 1918;
and the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, Oct. 30-Nov. 11, 1918. He also
participated in the march to the Rhine, Nov. 17-Dec. 13, 1918.
TRACHSEL received citations from the French and American war
department, (given in another part of the book). He was gassed
in the Argonne Drive. Sailed from Brest, on the S.S. Leviathan,
July 30, 1919. Discharged from Quantico, Va.
