Extracts from Letters of the Boys With the Colors

(Copied from Newspapers)
From Private James Kilday (p. 107)

19th Company, 161st Depot Brigade, Camp Grant, Sept. 1, 1918.

"I have been getting the paper right along and it is sure good to read the news from the old home town. I was surprised to
see that a number of the Green county boys have been injured in France.
"I was in the hospital twenty-seven days, and was let out last Tuesday and have been getting along fine ever since.
"Three of us boys are in the service now; my brother Martin is in Camp Custer and my brother Arthur is at Chillocothe,
Ohio. He was called with six other selected mechanics from Eau Claire, just a few days ago.
"Well, I expect to be in France in about six weeks, and that won't be any too soon to suit me. I am as anxious as the rest
of the boys. That seems to be the main point in this great war, to get over to France and have it over with. I guess we have them on the run from what we hear.
"Most of the boys expect to be home for Christmas dinner, and I hope this proves true."

JAMES KILDAY.
