Extracts from Letters of the Boys With the Colors

(Copied from Newspapers)
From Seaman Francis Lewis (p. 108)

U.S. Naval Base, 27, European Waters, October 10, 1918.

"I received the papers you sent me and it surely seemed good to read news from home. These were the first papers I
have received since I left home July 4th. I suppose everybody wonders what I am doing. Well, in regard to that, I can give no explanation, but I am doing my share, as I know all the other fellows are doing. Although I cannot say, I am in a part where we have great trouble with the Huns' submarines. I read Forrest Rosenburg's letter in the News, which is very interesting, and I know 'Rosy' will give the Germans some battered faces."

FRANCIS LEWIS.
