Extracts from Letters of the Boys With the Colors

(Copied from Newspapers)
From Private Harold Pauley (p. 117)

Ft. Stevens, Oregon, Oct. 13, 1918.

"I have just got back from the General Hospital in San Francisco, and it is sure some place. There are over fifteen
hundred patients in the hospital and they have some fine doctors and nurses. I was in the hospital here at the Post for over three weeks, then they sent me to Frisco and I was glad for it is one of the best hospitals in the good old U.S.A.
"The papers keep looking more favorable, today's said the Huns were ready to accept peace terms. In that case I may
eat Christmas dinner at home."

HAROLD PAULEY.
