From Private Gilbert Ringen (p. 120)

Camp Robinson, Wis., Aug. 14, 1918.

"I was out and helped put the large shell in the cannons last week. It is fun working around the cannons. Dear folks,
don't worry about me at all for I am fine. I am willing to do anything that is for the good of our country and you folks, and you know I am no better than any one else and must do my duty. I am sure getting tanned up in good shape and I think I am getting fat too."
