Clinton - Mother, 103, Survives Son, 80
John Brooks WALKER, 80, a pioneer in this section, died in the home of his daughter,
Mrs. Lock PIERCE, four miles east of Evansville on highway 13 [Hwy. 14], at 2 a.m., Monday after a week's illness of double pneumonia. His mother, Mrs. Sarah Ann WALKER, Rock Island, Ill., who will be 104 years old June 5, 1930, survives him.
Mr. WALKER was born March 25, 1849, in Bradford county, Pennsylvania, and
came with his parents to Wisconsin in 1868. They settled in Argyle where they spent two years, and then moved to Clinton where the family since lived. Mr. WALKER was a well known farmer here.
He was married to Jennette SMITH, Clinton, Nov. 7, 1875, and they celebrated their
golden wedding anniversary at the home of their son, Charles WALKER, near Clinton, Nov. 7, 1925. Mr. WALKER was a member of the Baptist church and Modern Woodmen. He is survived by his mother; one daughter, Mrs. Lock PIERCE, Evansville; one son, one sister, Mrs. H. J. PARKS, Rock Island, Ill., and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in the Baptist church, Clinton, at 2 p.m. Wednesday,
preceded by prayer service in the PIERCE home near Evansville at noon. The Rev. George PARMELEE, Clinton, will officiate at both services. Burial will be in Clinton.
