- Clinton - Mother, 103, Survives Son, 80
- John Brooks WALKER, 80, a pioneer in this section,
died in the home of his daughter,
- Mrs. Lock PIERCE, four miles east of Evansville on
highway 13 [Hwy. 14], at 2 a.m., Monday after a week's illness
of double pneumonia. His mother, Mrs. Sarah Ann WALKER,
Rock Island, Ill., who will be 104 years old June 5, 1930, survives
him.
- Mr. WALKER was born March 25, 1849, in Bradford county,
Pennsylvania, and
- came with his parents to Wisconsin in 1868. They settled
in Argyle where they spent two years, and then moved to Clinton
where the family since lived. Mr. WALKER was a well known
farmer here.
- He was married to Jennette SMITH, Clinton, Nov. 7,
1875, and they celebrated their
- golden wedding anniversary at the home of their son, Charles
WALKER, near Clinton, Nov. 7, 1925. Mr. WALKER
was a member of the Baptist church and Modern Woodmen. He is
survived by his mother; one daughter, Mrs. Lock PIERCE,
Evansville; one son, one sister, Mrs. H. J. PARKS, Rock
Island, Ill., and three grandchildren.
- Funeral services will be held in the Baptist church, Clinton,
at 2 p.m. Wednesday,
- preceded by prayer service in the PIERCE home near
Evansville at noon. The Rev. George PARMELEE, Clinton,
will officiate at both services. Burial will be in Clinton.
