The Badger State

August 1846 - December 1851

Janesville, Rock County, Wisconsin

The Badger State was published by John A. BROWN and George W. CRABB on Saturdays. It absorbed three other newspapers during its six-year publication - The Rock County Democrat (1846-1848), The Free Soil Democrat (1848-1849) and The Rock County Badger (April 1849-1850). In turn, The Badger State became The Democratic Standard (October 1851-October 1858), which became The Janesville Daily & Weekly Times (the Daily Times was published October 1858-July 1859, 1860, 1878-1881; the Weekly Times was published February-June, September-December 1859).
