The Enterprise & The Tribune

November 1909

Evansville, Union Twp., Rock Co., Wisconsin

24
Born in Cheshire, England, March 4, 1835, Mr. Thomas GLEAVE came to this
country and became a resident of Rock county at the age of eleven years, and remained here until the time of his death, which occurred on Friday last, Nov. 19, 1909, having passed the age of three score and ten over four years ago.
January 1859, Mr. Gleave was wedded to Miss Maria CRIDDLE, who preceeded
her husband to the great beyond 30 years ago, and to this union five children were born, three of whom are still living. They are Cash GLEAVE, of Madison; Mrs. E. J. FIEDLER and Miss Alice GLEAVE, of this city.
For quite a long time Mr. GLEAVE had been ailing, and for the past three or four
weeks had been failing rapidly, though he was down town one week preceding his death, but from that time failed rapidly and on Friday passed peacefully away.
Mr. GLEAVE was a man of integrity, uprightness and strict honesty, and during his life
time he sought to adhere closely to his conceptions of right and wrong, and leaves a pleasant memory with his many old friends.
The funeral was held from the house Saturday afternoon, Nov. 20, Rev. T. W. North
of the Methodist church conducting the service. [p. 1]
