Charles Summer BROOKS, aged 47, died at his home in this city Monday, after a
week's illness caused by Flu Pneumonia.
Born in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, he there grew to manhood, in 1896 uniting in
marriage to Miss Minnie THOMAS, of Burnet, they making their home at Waupun, later moving to Fond du Lac and later to Evansville, where he has since been employed as engineer for the D. E. Wood Butter Co.
Mr. BROOKS saw service in the Spanish-American war as a volunteer later joining
the regular army where he saw service on the Mexican border just prior to the World War.
The funeral services will be held at the Baptist church this afternoon at 2:30, the Rev.
PRATT, officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
He is survived by his widow and three children, Nathan, Harriet, and Vernon.

Juliaette CHAPIN MAIN was born in the Town of Union, June 2, 1853. She was
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas P. CHAPIN. She received her education at the district school in the vicinity of Brooklyn and at the Evansville Seminary.
In later life she was married to Edwin Dakin MAIN of Oregon. Five children were
born to them. Mrs. Celia RHODES, Florence, deceased, Mrs. Idell TUSLER, Oregon, Stanley D. MAIN, Madison and Lillian H. MAIN of Pasadena, Cal.
She is survived by her children, three sisters, Mrs. Anna BURGESS, Portland,
Oregon, Mrs. Emma WHITTIER, California, Mrs. Lillian MARTIN of Beloit and one brother, Fred CHAPIN, this city.
Funeral was held last Friday afternoon at the Presbyterian church, Rev. W. A.
GESKE, officiating. [p. 4, col. 3]

Thomas STEELE, who for twenty-five years resided on the BOYNTON farm, just
west of Evansville and who was well known by a large circle of acquaintances, departed this life at his home just west of Leonard Park, where he, with his sisters have resided for the past six years.
Mr. STEELE was born in Dane County, August 8, 1857 and was honored by the
Town of Union as its chairman for many years.
Funeral services were held Sunday at the home, the Rev. D. Q. GRABILL, of Fort
Atkinson, officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill.
He leaves to mourn his decease, Mrs. Mary McGRAW, Syene, and the Misses
Jennie, Ida and Tina STEELE, Evansville; one brother, William, Evansville. [p. 4, col. 4]
