- FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN BELOIT
- Mrs. Elizabeth ENSIGN Succumbs Last Week Wednesday;
Buried Here Friday

- Mrs. Elizabeth M. ENSIGN, 82, a native of Cooksville
and a former resident of
- Evansville, died on Wednesday afternoon of last week in her
home at Beloit where she had resided for many years.
- Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Rosman
chapel with the Rev. H. A.
- Studebaker, Beloit, officiating. The body was brought to
Evansville for burial in Maple Hill cemetery.
- Mrs. ENSIGN, formerly Miss Elizabeth BACKENSTOE,
was born Aug. 27, 1852
- at Cooksville, six miles northeast of this city, and spent
her early years here. She was married to Edwin B. ENSIGN
at a ceremony performed in 1887 after which she moved to Beloit
with her husband who died there in 1928.
- Mrs. ENSIGN is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Mary
F. MAGEE, Beloit; Mrs. L. E.
- HOISINGTON, Montford [Montfort, Grant Co., WI]; and
Mrs. Kate RICHARDSON, Vermillion, S.D. [pp. 1 &
