- MRS. HENRY AUSTIN DIES HERE SUNDAY
- Long Illness Fatal to Evansvile Resident; Burial in Maple
Hill Cemetery Tuesday.
- Mrs. Henry AUSTIN, 73, lifelong resident of this vicinity,
died at her home on North
- Madison Street following an illness of several months duration.
- Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Methodist
church, the Rev. G.
- Kenneth MacInnis officiating. Burial was made in Maple Hill
cemetery.
- Alvina Louisa RODD was born May 19, 1863, in the town
of Magnolia, the daughter
- of John RODD and Mary Ann ESSERY, who came
to this country as pioneers from Prince Edward Island. January
19, 1882, she was married to Lee Glancy HOLMES, Albany,
and went to live on the HOLMES homestead. Mr. HOLMES
died in 1889, leaving the daughter, May.
- On June 24, 1903, she was married to Henry L. AUSTIN,
Evansville, and has since
- resided here.
- She joined the Methodist church while residing at Albany
and ever since has been a
- member of the church and its auxiliary societies. Besides
her church affiliations, she was a member of the W.C.T.U., and
the Columbia chapter of the Eastern Star.
- Besides her husband, she is survived by one one daughter,
Mrs. Robert
- RICHARDSON; two grandsons, Robert Holmes and Lee Porter
RICHARDSON; one sister, Mrs. [Miss] Gertrude RODD;
one brother, J. W. RODD, and two nieces, Mrs. Malcolm
ALLEN and Miss Evalyne RODD.
- Pallbearers were Leonard FINN, William SCHNEIDER,
Robert SHREVE,
- Leonard EAGER, and Everette COMBS, this city
and Albert BUMP, Albany. [p. 1, col. 3]
