- [p. 6, col. 3]
- THE LIST OF INTERMENTS. - Elsewhere [above] we
publish the list of interments in this city for
- the past month. Of the number there reported, only about
20 or 30 died of complaints incident to this season of the year.
It will be seen, therefore, that the mortality is by no means
alarming and we do not learn that there is any increase of sickness.
This exhibit most effectually puts to rest the story set afloat
by editor of the Sentinel who was present at the Firemen's
Tournament. [p. 6, col. 3]
- A CARD. - To my friends that
have generously offered to support my re-election to the
- Superintendency of schools of the second district of Rock
county, I desire to return my sincere thanks, and to state in
this public manner, so as to make the notice as general as possible,
that having accepted an invitation to become the Principal of
Dekeeyter Institute, in Dekeeyter, N.Y., shall not be a candidate
for this important office. ALBERT WHITFORD.
- Milton, Sept. 5th, 1865. [p. 6, col. 3]
- SHALL WE HAVE A WALKING MATCH? - Mr. DEXTER of Johnstown
Centre proposes the
- idea of a Walking Match, during the County Fair, between
men over 65 years of age. The suggestion is a good one. Who will
see to carrying it out? [p. 6, col. 3]
- MARRIED.
- In this city, on the 30th inst., by Rev. C. L. Thompson,
Mr. DANIEL H. HICKOCK, of Rockford,
- and Miss S. M. CHURCHILL, of New Milford, Ill.
-
- In Edgerton, September 3d, by J. P. Towne, Esq., Mr. JOHN
R. SPRAGUE and Miss SARAH J.
- SIMPSON. [p. 6, col. 6]
- DIED.
- In Johnstown, August 30th, GROVE L., only child of Rush and
Amanda M. BEARDSLEY, aged 1
- year, _ months and 16 days.
-
- In this city, August 30th, HERBERT JOHN, youngest son of
Chas. W. and Celia A. STORY, aged 1
- year and 3 days.
-
- September 2d, little HURMON FRANKLIN, aged 11 months and
17 days, son of John and Cordelia
- S. BREY.
- Little Hurmey, loved and loving,
- From our fond embrace has gone,
- He an angel, now is singing,
- Round our Heavenly Father's throne.
-
- In Janesville, September 5th, ALEXANDER T. JAMES,
aged 12 years.
- This highly esteemed young man entered into solemn covenant
with God and with his people nearly
- two years ago, and when death came it _____ him ready for
his departure. With the peaceful confidence of a believer, he
yielded up his spirit into the hands of his Redeemer, after a
brief but painful illness. The services of burial will be held
on Wednesday the 6th inst., at 3 o'clock P.M., at the house on
Rock street, near Jackson, and a funeral discourse will be presented
at the Baptist Church on Sabbath morning next.
