PERRIGO IS VICTIM OF RIFLE ACCIDENT AT CAMP
- Pfc. Jack PERRIGO, 18, a native of Janesville, was
killed Friday, March 18, in a rifle
- accident at Cherry Point Marine Base, Havelock, N.C., his
relatives in Janesville have been informed.
- He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. John E. PERRIGO, 578 Renrose
Ave., Loves Park,
- who were Janesville residents until 1942. His father was
formerly employed at General Motors here.
- Details of the accident, which happened on the camp rifle
range, have not been
- received. Military services are being held there, and the
body will be returned to Loves Park for memorial services.
- PERRIGO and his wife, the former Jackie FAIR
of Loves Park, became the parents
- of a daughter Wednesday, March 16, only two days before the
accident.
- During his high school days, PERRIGO attained fame
as an athelete in the Rockford
- area, including novice championship in the Golden Gloves.
He played both football and basketball. He entered service in
July last year.
- Survivors are his wife and daughter; his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. John E. PERRIGO,
- Loves Park; a sister, Miss Amie PERRIGO, Chicago;
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John H. PERRIGO, Rockford,
and Mrs. Kenneth KINNA, Janesville; an uncle and aunts,
Albert VOLBRECHT, Mrs. Charles PRESS, Mrs. Oscar
PFEIFFER and Mrs. Paul PFEIFFER, Janesville, Mrs.
Elmer PAQUETTE, Cambridge, and Mrs. John HESSIAN,
Loves Park.
