- Dr. Erlow B[liss] LOOFBORO, 92, a practicing dentist
for more than 53 years and
- a former longtime resident here, died Wednesday in Tampa,
Fla., where he had lived for some time. He was a patient at
Johnson Nursing Home at the time of his death.
- Dr. LOOFBORO maintained an office here on the fifth
floor of the Jackman Building
- for 43 years, 41 of them in the office he closed for the
last time 10 years ago when he retired.
- After graduation from Northwestern University Dental School
in 1904, Dr.
- LOOFBORO practiced at Marshall and later at Milton
Junction for 12 years before coming here in 1916. He took a
special course in nerve blocking after 14 years of practice and
continued to study and use modern techniques in his work.
- At the age of 65 he obtained his pilot's license and was
an active pilot until a few years
- before his retirement. He was active in conservation circles
and served as secretary and president of the old Izaak Walton
League, forerunner of the present Conservation Club.
- In 1932 he reactivated the Rifle Club in Janesville, inactive
since World War I, and
- was its president for some years and later honorary president.
- He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Masonic Male
Quartet. He held
- life memberships at Northwestern University and in the local,
state and national dental societies.
- Dr. and Mrs. LOOFBORO had a home here at 115 S. Main
and for many years a
- home at Indian Ford. They spent part of each winter in
Florida after 1936, usually in Tampa.
- Mrs. LOOFBORO died about two years ago in Tampa where
the couple had lived
- since his retirement, returning to Janesville for several
months each summer for a few years.
- The only immediate survivor is a daughter, Mrs. Norma DOBSON,
Tampa. A
- nephew, Dwight LOOFBORO, resides here at 1220 Jerome
Ave.
- Services and burial will be in Tampa this week. [Friday
edition, p. 2]
