Blessing of 1859
A blessing in disguise.
That's what local residents called the minor miracle of 1859.
Early vegetables and corn were destroyed by a frost that June, but as it turned out the frost also
killed weeds and insects.
As a result, local residents grew strawberries three inches in circumference.
