OBITUARIES - BRERETON, James
JANESVILLE - James BRERETON, 77, of 555 Parkwood Ave., North Port, FL,
died Mon., May 17, 1993, at Venice Hospital in Venice, FL. He was born Dec. 15, 1915, in Horton Green, England, the son of William and Ellen (BIRD) BRERETON. He married Elsie PRICE on July 29, 1939; she died March 20, 1988. He married Lucia KESSLER Nov. 14, 1991. Mr. BRERETON was employed as a carpenter for many years and prior to his retirement in 1981, and was a building inspector for the city of Janesville. He was a former member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Janesville. Mr. BRERETON was very active in Masonic organizations and was affiliated with the following: past Master of Janesville Masonic Lodge #14 F&AM; York Rite Bodies of Janesville; Chapter #5, RAM; Gebal Council #2 R&SM; Commandery #2, Knights Templar; Wisconsin Priory #16, Knights York Cross of Honor; past Patron of OES Chapter #69; past Watchman of Shepherd #15 of Janesville; Scottish Rite Valley of Madison where he was past Most Wise Master, Chapter of Rose Croix; past Sovereign of Winnebago Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine; member of Zor Shrine Temple of Madison, and was elected to received the Masonic 33rd Degree in 1978. In Florida he was a member of SAHEB Temple of Sarasota, FL; the North Port Moose Lodge; Englewood Elks Lodge; and the Shrine Club.
Mr. BRERETON is survived by his wife, Lucia, of North Port, FL; a son, Geoff
(Jane) BRERETON of Janesville; a grandson, James G. BRERETON; a great-grandson, Jesse BRERETON; a brother, Harry BRERETON of England; and 3 sisters: Margaret SMALE of Whitewater, Carrie HEWETT of England, and Rebecca CARR of Janesville. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael BRERETON; 3 brothers, Tom, John and George; and 2 sisters, Annie and Ellen.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Fri., May 21, at TRINITY
EPISCOPAL CHURCH, Janesville, Rev. George McKilligin officiating. Burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME, Masonic services will be held at 7:00 p.m. [Wednesday edition, p. 2B]
