- JANESVILLE - Wallace N[eil] RISTOW, age 80, died Saturday
morning, May 3,
- 2003, at Mercy Hospital following an apparent heart attack.
Wallace was born on June 14, 1922, in Astico, WI, son of Fred
and Lucy (HANKEY) RISTOW. Following graduation
from Columbus, WI, High School in 1941, he joined the U.S. Army-Air
Corps and served four years in the 37th fighter Squadron. He
married Frances BABCOCK, who preceded him in death on
Dec. 3, 1981 [actually Mar. 1, 1981]. On Sep. 3, 1983, Wallace
married Hazel (ALFRED) CUMMINGS. He was employed
as head machinist in the composing room of various newspapers
throughout the midwest for many years. Prior to retiring he
operated his own saw sharpening business in Janesville. Wallace
attended First Lutheran Church and was a former member of Moose
Lodge #197 and Sons of Norway Nordland Lodge #544. He was a
life member of Klenow-Hilt V.F.W. Post #1621.
- Survivors include his wife, Hazel RISTOW of Janesville;
a sister, Ira (Wallace)
- BRAATZ of Norcross, GA; a nephew, Dwight (Barb) RISTOW
of Sheboygan, WI; 2 stepdaughters, Adele (Ralph) UHE of
Milton and Sandra (Kent) ROCKWELL of Houston, MN; a stepson,
Ray (Barb) CUMMINGS of Janesville; and several stepgrandchildren
and stepgreat-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents,
Wallace was preceded in death by a sister, Eriea RISTOW;
and a brother, Norman RISTOW.
- Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tues., May 6, 2003,
at Henke-Clarson Funeral
- Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville, with Rev. James Melvin
officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation
will be on Tuesday from 12 noon until the time of the services
at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran
