- HALVERSON, PFC Andrew McFall
October 10, 1984 - October 9, 2004
- SHOPIERE - PFC Andrew McFall HALVERSON, 19, was killed
in action in Iraq
- Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004. Andrew was born on Oct 10, 1984 in
Janesville, the son of Joel A. HALVERSON and Angela G.
McFALL. He graduated from Riverdale High School, Muscoda,
WI in 2003, where he played Football, ran Track, enjoyed FFA,
and became a State Champion in Forensics. He truly loved being
a volunteer at the Muscoda Senior Dining Site and Food Pantry.
He had deep and wonderful friendships in Muscoda with his classmates
and their parents. Andrew was kindhearted, loving, affectionate,
generous, gentle, polite, respectful, fun loving, carefree, animated,
family oriented, and was a gift from God. He was a Proud Marine,
whose duty is now guarding the Gates of Heaven. Surviving are
his Momma, Angela McFALL of Shopiere, WI; his brothers,
Justin and Michael HALVERSON; his sister, Ashton McFALL;
his father, Joel HALVERSON of Janesville, WI; maternal
grandparents, Richard and Marian McFALL of Shopiere, WI;
paternal grandparents, Gary and Audrey HALVERSON, now
in South Carolina; many uncles and aunts, including his uncle
and auntie, Rodney and Adriane, with whom he spent a great deal
of time during his training at Camp Pendleton, CA. Funeral services
will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, in the Turtle COMMUNITY
CENTER, with the Rev. Larry Correll and Rev. Philip Allen officiating.
Burial will be in the Shopiere Cemetery. Fellowship, visitation
and refreshments will follow the service in the Turtle Community
Center at approximately 2:30 p.m. In lieu of other expressions
of sympathy, items for care packages for the Marines in his infantry
unit, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, now serving in Iraq would be
appreciated and may be brought to the Turtle Community Center.
A memorial fund will also be established for scholarship funds
in Andrews name. Arrangements are being made by the United
States Marine Corps.

- MILTON - Howard W. TRESCHER, 72, a lifelong farmer,
passed away at his
- home Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004.
- He was born at the home farm in Milton Township on Jan. 9,
1932, to William and
- Florence (DUCKETT) TRESCHER. He graduated from
Milton Union High School in 1950. His education was furthered
by graduating in 1957 from the Agriculture Farm Short Course
program at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He married
Marian MATSON in Leon, WI on Oct. 24, 1959. Howard loved
to farm and continued to operate the land the past several years
in spite of many illnesses. He farrowed and finished hogs until
his tragic accident in September, 1994, which resulted in much
hospitalization. He also held full time work off the farm, starting
at Highway Trailer in Edgerton, Ivan Rice & Sons, Milton,
and then General Motors truck assembly line where he spent 25
years. Howard retired from GM on Feb. 1, 1988.
- A lifetime member of Milton United Methodist Church, he served
as usher, greeter,
- trustee and chairman of the church council. He was also involved
in the Milton 4-H being a project leader and serving on the Advisory
Board. Milton Grange was also dear to his heart, having joined
while a student in high school. He went on to serve as head of
the organization. Over the years his conservationist beliefs
led him to plant many thousands of trees, wildflowers and dig
out a pond on the farm with the help of all the children and
grandchildren. He believed in taking good care of the land and
was a good example to all. As an active conservationist, he was
awarded the Outstanding Young Farmer Conservation Award for Rock
County in 1971. He was a member of Milton Masonic Blue Lodge
#161. He served in many offices during his 50+ years of membership
and was elected to head the order three times. He belonged to
the Madison Scottish Rite Consistory, the Zor Shrine and was
a 32nd degree Mason. After joining the Order of Eastern Star
he was elected to head that organization. In 1992 he was appointed
to a State office which resulted in his advancement to the position
of Worthy Grand Patron, which is head of the state of Wisconsin
Eastern Star. He thoroughly enjoyed traveling and meeting people
throughout the state. He also was a member of Hope Court #11
Order of the Amaranth in Janesville.
- The Rock County Electric Cooperative has served as a big
part of his life for 43 years.
- He was elected as a director on the board in 1962. He was
elected to many offices during those years and served as Board
President for 15 years. He organized the county queen contest
during the 70's, which resulted in Rock County having a winner
at the National Rural Electric Convention in Las Vegas. On the
state level he was also very well known. He served in many capacities
on the Wisconsin Electric Cooperative Board. Many years were
also devoted to serving as a representative on the Federated
Youth Foundation Board. Howard also served in local government
as Milton Township Assessor and a committeeman on the ASCS for
Milton Township and Rock County.
- He is survived by his wife, Marian; a son, Bill (Julie) TRESCHER
of Augusta, WI; 2
- daughters, Debbie (Don) ARNOLD and Linda (Mike) ROHERTY
of Milton; 10 grand- children: Amanda, Bill, Matthew TRESCHER
of Augusta, Emily and Valerie ARNOLD of Milton, Kristy
ROHERTY of Chicago, IL, Angie ROHERTY of Sarasota,
FL, Michael and Ashley ROHERTY of Milton; a sister, Doris
(Robert) KNOTT of Racine; brothers-in-law, Ivan (Joyce)
RICE of Punta Gorda, FL, and Norman (Susan) MATSON
of Sparta, WI; a sister-in-law, Ellen (Steve) KRUSER of
Onalaska, WI; many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded
in death by his parents; and 3 sisters: Marion (Bill) CUNNINGHAM,
Jean (Wes) STOCKMAN and Eunice RICE.
- Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Oct.
25, 2004, at Milton United
- Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00
p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, at Albrecht Funeral Home in Milton.
Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the
funeral home. Visitation will be on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until
time of services at the church. In lieu of other expressions
of sympathy, a memorial is established in his name. Arrangements

- MILTON - Malcolm J[ohn] CULLEN, 80, died Thursday,
Oct. 28, 2004.
- He was born on March 4, 1924, the son of John and Esther
(DUCKETT) CULLEN.
- He was married to Elizabeth Betty O'LEARY on Sept.
25, 1948, at St. Patrick's Church, Janesville, who preceded him
in death in 2001. Malcolm lived and farmed his entire life in
the Milton area. He was a member and director of the Harmony
Mutual and Sugar Creek Mutual Insurance Companies for 37 years.
He served on the Johnstown Town Board for 20 years. He also served
as a director of the former Associated Milk Producers, Inc. and
as a seed dealer for Super Crost Seeds. Malcolm was a member
of Saint Mary Catholic Church since 1948. Malcolm enjoyed playing
cards, watching the crops and following local sports teams. He
also enjoyed Friday night fish-frys. Malcolm and Betty spent
many years dancing with the Milton Village Squares.
- Surviving are his 5 children: John (Debbie) of Waunakee,
Carole (Dewayne)
- FIBROW of Blythe, CA, Jim, Bob (Marci), both of Milton,
and Greg (Sheila) of Tomah; his 17 grandchildren: Sara (Marty),
Katie (Brad), Krystal, Angela, Andy, Mike, Dan, Kellie (Eric),
Shawn, Kaylee, Courtney, Claire, Casey, Stephanie, Patrick, Derek
and Lindsey; 2 great-grandchildren, Drew and Madeline; a sister,
Phyllis (Owen) HAUGOM of Milton; 2 sisters-in-law, Agnes
(Ralyn) BREWER of Rockton, IL, and Mary O'LEARY
of Milton; and 3 brothers-in-law: Richard (Marion) O'LEARY,
Harry (Barbara) O'LEARY and Conrad OLESTON, all
of Janesville.
- Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, Nov.
1, 2004, at Saint Mary
- Catholic Church, Milton, with visitation starting from 1:30
p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Saint Mary
Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Sunday, October 31, from
3:00 until 7:00 p.m., concluding with a prayer service at 6:30
p.m., at Albrecht Funeral Home in Milton. [Saturday edition]
