JANESVILLE/BELOIT— Donald A. HESS, 56, a lifelong Janesville/Beloit resident,
passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, Nov. 4, 2005, at his home. He was born on May 18, 1949 in Beloit, WI, the son of Loyal H. & Betty (FISH) HESS.
He attended school in Beloit and was a graduate of Beloit Memorial High School,
class of 1967. He attended Milton College, and just short of graduating entered the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. After his discharge he was employed at General Motors and also received certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant, working at the Rock County Health Care Center. On Nov. 22, 1996 he married the former Mary Lynn TECHE. She preceded him in death on July 6, 2003.
He is survived by his 4 children: Emily (Harvey) ANDERSEN of Evansville, WI,
Aubrey (Lanny) WELLS of Orfordville, WI, Austin HESS and Abigail HESS, both at home; his mother, Betty (Andy) ANDERSON of Kerrville, TX; his 4 siblings: Gary (Ruth Ann) HESS of Hayward, WI, Richard (Susan) HESS of Atlanta, GA, Diane (Dennis) LIGHTFOOT of Phlox, WI, and Russell (Connie) HESS of Roanoke, IN; his 6 grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his father, Loyal HESS.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005, at the
Whitcomb-Lynch-Albrecht Funeral Home, Janesville, 15 N. Jackson St. Burial will take place in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Friends may call on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. [Sunday edition, from the Gazette Xtra website]

HAYWARD/MILTON- Erlo C[harles] NELSON, 93, of Hayward, WI, formerly of
Milton, WI, passed away Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, at his home in Hayward. He was born on Dec. 6, 1911, in North Loup, Nebraska, the son of Charles and Mabel (SEVERANCE) NELSON. He graduated from High School in Marion, IA.
Erlo married Lela MARTINSEN on Dec. 7, 1940, in Milton. Erlo was a longtime
Milton resident. He worked as a welder at the Schlueter Company in Janesville, WI, and was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church, Milton. He loved to go camping, fishing and bow hunting. He had a small archery business, and he invented the Nelson Arrow Holder and the String-A-Ree Fish Point.
Erlo is survived by 2 daughters, Ruth Ann (Gary) HESS of Hayward and Phyllis
(Ken) PAGE of Spooner, WI; 4 grandchildren: Laura KATH, Michael (Becky) PAGE, Greg (Sonya) HESS and Matthew (Sharon) PAGE; 8 great-grandchildren: April and Tiffany KATH, Jason and Evan PAGE, Erin and Braden HESS and Brianna and Rachell PAGE; a sister, Reva STUMP of Minnetonka, MN; and special friends: Mary, Spin and Margi. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lela; a sister, Verna KLEIN; and a brother, Nolan NELSON.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at the Seventh
Day Baptist Church, Milton, with Pastor George Calhoun officiating. Burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park, Janesville. A visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. The Whitcomb-Lynch-Albrecht Funeral Home, Milton, is assisting the family. JANESVILLE - Robert A. HANTHORN, 60, of Janesville, died Thursday, Nov.
17, 2005, at Mercy Hospital following a brief illness.
Robert was born at Edgerton Memorial Community Hospital on May 7, 1945, the
son of Harold and June (HALL) HANTHORN. He graduated from Milton High School, served with the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam War veteran. Robert was associated with I. G. Hall, Inc. in Johnston Center all of his life, and was the present owner. He was a member of Moose Lodge #197 and the Implement Dealers Association.
Robert is survived by 2 brothers, Gerald (fiance, Nancy ROHERTY) HANTHORN
of Johnstown Center, Tom (Peggy) HANTHORN of Janesville; nieces and nephews: Greg, Bryan, Todd and Jeff HANTHORN, and Ginger HANTHORN SMITH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy HANTHORN.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005, from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at
Henke Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home. Monsignor James Uppena of St. Mary Catholic Church, Milton, will officiate. Burial will follow at the Old Johnstown Cemetery. [Saturday edition, from the Gazette Xtra website]

EDGERTON - Rosella I. FURSETH, age 99 of Edgerton, passed away peacefully
with her loving family by her side on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005, at the Memorial Community Hospital Long Term Care Unit, Edgerton.
Rosella was born on Aug. 22, 1906, in Township of Pleasant Springs, Stoughton, the
10th of 11 children of the late Ole and Alice (MINNESJORD) LEE. She was united in marriage on Aug. 29, 1925, in Stoughton to George Martin FURSETH. He preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 1980. She was a member of Central Lutheran Church, Edgerton. Rosella lived the past 77 years in the farmhouse she shared with her late husband. Following his demise she lived alone in her home; but she was never far from her devoted family. She enjoyed farming, bird-watching, vegetable and flower gardening, and spending time with her family and friends. She farmed for many years, while also employed at the Nunn Bush Shoe factory for 25 years until her retirement in 1972.
She is survived by her son, Paul (Smiley) FURSETH of Edgerton, and his children:
Paul (Angie) FURSETH of Edgerton, Marylane (Robert) KALEMBER of Janesville, Denise (Sid) WATSON, Holly (Mark) DEEGAN, Eric (Chris) FURSETH, Christian (Geri) FURSETH and Andrew (Kim) FURSETH, and their loving mother, Marjorie FURSETH, all of Edgerton; her daughter, Bernadette (John) FRIEDELL of Shell Lake, WI, and her children: Johnny FRIEDELL, Debra FRIEDELL and Robin (Mike) FRANCIS; her daughter, Gloria KANDLE of Lansing, MI, and her children: Mathew KANDLE, Molly (James) KOST and Megan KANDLE; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grand-children; and 9 great-great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; 10 brothers and sisters; a daughter-in-law,
Jeanne FURSETH; and a son-in-law, Kirk KANDLE.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, at
CENTRAL Lutheran Church , Edgerton, with the Rev. James Johnson officiating. Burial will be at a later date. A gathering of relatives and friends will be on Saturday, Nov. 26, at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the services. The EHLERT FUNERAL HOME of Edgerton is assisting the family. DARIEN - Harlow John JONES Jr., 74, of Darien, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005
at Mercy Hospital in Janesville as the result of a sudden illness.
Harlow was born Sep. 26, 1931 in Milton Township, the son of Harlow Sr. and
Bonnie (BASSETT) JONES. He attended Whitewater City High School and then joined the Navy in 1952, during the Korean Conflict. Harlow served on the USS Bon Homme Richard, the USS Los Angeles 135 and the USS Shasta AE6 and was discharged in March of 1956. Harlow married Donna Mae TAYLOR on May 4, 1957 at First United Methodist Church in Janesville. He was employed as a Back Hoe Operator for Ivan Rice and Sons Excavating from 1957-74. Harlow then worked as a Mechanic, rebuilding and restoring a collection of classic Ford Thunderbirds for Scharine's Farm Systems for the next 11 years. Harlow retired from United States Gypsum in Walworth in 1993. Harlow was a member of the Richmond United Methodist Church and the William Graham American Legion Post 173 in Whitewater. He was active in the Johnstown 4-H Club, serving as a leader of various projects since 1967. Harlow enjoyed raising and showing rabbits with his family and serving as the rabbit project leader with the Johnstown 4-H Club beginning in 1969. From 1984 on, he also served as the Superintendent for the Rabbit Department at the Rock County 4-H Fair. Harlow liked to watch his son Jeff compete in drag races, and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; 3 sons, Jeff (Lynor) JONES of Beloit, Scott (Sarah)
JONES of Fort Atkinson and Rod JONES of Janesville; 2 grandchildren, Andy JONES and Desiree JONES, both of Janesville; 2 nephews and 1 niece.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at the
WHITCOMB-LYNCH-ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME, HWY 26, MILTON with Pastor Dawn Ramstad officiating. Burial with full Military Rites will be in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation times will be from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH- ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME, HWY 26 MILTON and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services Monday at the FUNERAL HOME.
