EDGERTON - Donald R[obert] MILLARD, 75, of Edgerton, passed away
Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, at the Edgerton Hospital and Health Services.
Donald was born on Nov. 1, 1931, in Janesville, WI the son of the late Roy and Alice
(LITTLE) MILLARD. He attended public school in the Janesville and Edgerton areas, and graduated from Edgerton High School in 1949. On Feb. 5, 1952, Don enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was married to Mary ARTHUR on Oct. 23, 1953, in the United Methodist Church in Edgerton. Don received an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Air Force in February, 1956. He enrolled at Indiana Institute of Technology in January of 1958, and graduated in December, 1960, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. After moving to Florida, he worked for two Consulting Engineering Firms as the Resident Project Engineer, overseeing construction on several Potable Water and Sanitary Sewage Treatment Facilities for nine years. Don joined the Manatee County Public Works Department Engineering Division as a Senior Project Engineer. Don retired from Manatee County in October, 1994. Don was raised a Master Mason in 1968, at Madison Lodge #5 F&A.M. in Madison, Wisconsin, and served as Master of said Lodge in 1974. Don was a member of both the Scottish and York Rites, and a member and past Potentate of the Egypt Shrine Tin Lizzie Unit, and a charter member and past Camaxil of Los Tampateca #142 - Order of Quetzalcoatl. Don served on the board of Governors for Shrine Hospitals for Children in Tampa, Florida. He was an associate member of the Zor Shrine in Madison, WI. One of Don's special interests was woodworking. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Edgerton.
Donald is survived by his wife, Mary of Edgerton; brothers, Charles (Rochelle)
MILLARD of Edgerton and Roger (Celia) MILLARD of Mountain Home, AR; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Elvira ARTHUR of Edgerton, WI; sisters-in-law: Marge MILLARD of Middleton, WI, Helen WENTLER of Janesville, WI, and Clara (Duane) SNELL of Edgerton, WI; brothers-in-law, James ARTHUR Jr. of Cuba City, WI, and Charles ARTHUR of Douglasville, GA. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, at the
Whitcomb-Lynch-Albrecht Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Pastor Jean Bartlett officiating. Burial with full Military Rites will be in Fassett Cemetery. Visitation time will be Sunday from 4 until 7 p.m., with a Masonic Service to be held at 7 p.m., and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to either the Shiners' Hospital for Children or Edgerton Hospital and Health Services. [Friday edition, from the Gazette Xtra website]
