Oscar Azel DAVIS, 68, a resident of Milton for the past 22 years, died in Mercy
Hospital, Janesville, Tuesday, April 29.
He was born Sept. 4, 1878, in Bell Fountaine, Ohio. His early life was spent in the
West, and in 1900 he came from Boulder, Colo., to Welton, Iowa, where on Dec. 31, 1901, he was married to Miss Rachel VAN HORN. To them were born five children, Mrs. Rex BOWERS, Milton, Wilmer, Spokane, Wash., Arlie, Phoenix, Arizona, Duane, Portsmouth, Va., and Wesley, Delmar, Iowa. One brother, Albinio DAVIS, Riverside, Calif., also survives.
Mr. DAVIS was for several years marshal of the village of Milton and it was during
this time that his health failed, and he has been an invalid since that time.
There are fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Milton S.D.B. church.
Friends may call at the Phelps funeral home Friday evening. [Thursday edition, p. 6]

Mrs. Sylvia [M.] COON THOMAS, 94, formerly of Albion, and Milton passed
away, Tuesday, April 29, in Battle Creek, Mich., where she lived with her daughter, Mrs. B. J. JOHANSON for several years. Her body will be brought here for funeral services and burial Friday.
Mrs. THOMAS was in her 94th year. She suffered a heart attack two weeks ago
and another attack on Tuesday, which resulted in her death.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. B. F. JOHANSON, Battle Creek, four
grandchildren, Dr. Ellis JOHANSON, Mrs. Eunice WALSH, Miss Eloise THOMAS, and Mrs. Ila FRANK; and two great-grandchildren, Margaret FRANK and Ruth JOHANSON.
She was preceded in death by one son, Harry THOMAS, Milton, and a daughter
Florence THOMAS.
Sylvia COON was married to Randolph THOMAS on Dec. 31, 1873, in Albion,
where she spent much of her early life.
The funeral will be Friday afternoon, May 2, at 2 p.m. in the Phelps funeral home.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday morning between 10 a.m. until the time of
